Zavala beach is supposed to be one of the better beaches in Hvar, and to be fair it is. But that isn't saying much. Nearly all the beeches on Hvar are made up of very rough rock with little or no sand/pebbles.
Zavala does have sand, but it covers a very small and this quickly fills up with people. The rest of the 'beach' is the same rough rock found else where on the island.
To be fair, I suppose if there were just a few people on the sandy part of the beach it would be lovely.
There are a few shops & restaurants near the beach, but very little parking.
We loved Hvar, it is an absolutely stunning island, but we were hugely disappointed with the beaches. Zavala was better than most, but was just not big enough for the huge amount of people that use it during the summer. If your accomodation has a pool, you're better off staying there
