We went here on our first night, having arrived in the dark and read in the Hvar newsletter from our hotel that restaurants with fish on ice out front were a decent pick for sea food. This was one of the first places we came across and not particularly knowing our way around, we ventured in.
We spent about 1200 Kuna in here. At the time I thought that wasn't awful on price as we shared a starter and then shared one of the large fishies they had out front, however having had a further 8 nights in Croatia there is much MUCH better quality food and service to be had out there for this amount of lay out. Your money is better spent elsewhere.
My two main gripes were, having been seated, we had to wave down our own waiter to take our orders. The service was absolutely fine after that, so it wasn't a big deal particularly. What really put me off however was our starter, the Captains Plate, which is a trio of seafood. Well one of this particular trio was so full of grit it felt like I was crunching on sand, to the point it actually hurt my teeth and I gave up with it. For the amount of money we spent in here, cleaning the grit out of the seafood isn't much to ask.
We then shared one of the fish plates between two, expertly filleted for us at the table. This was quite tasty and a generally nice dish.
The restaurant didn't offer any extras however, whereas the better restaurants, in which we maybe spent 1000 Kuna or so (cheaper, and we had two starters!) gave us complementary drinks on arrival, amuse bouches, liquor at the end of our meal... I suggest if you intend to spend a good amount of money, there are far better options than this place. That's not to say it was awful, just a bit of a rip off when put in context (our second most expensive meal on holiday, but near the bottom of the list in terms of our experience).
