Villa Rosmarinus is a private jewel in the middle of busy Hvar tourism! We liked the location being centrally enough to walk everywhere (along the coast with the smell of pine-trees) but very quiet not being disturbed by anybody.

The quality of the building and interior is outstanding compared to the usual private appartments in Croatia. The garden is planted with rosemary, lavendar and even Ginko-trees - the smell really creates a holiday spirit. The view from the room towards Pakleni Islands is great!

Owner Damir is very hospitable and recommending bays, restaurants, trips, etc., which was very helpful! He is offering local breakfast with honey and fruits from the island - very nice but a little expensive.

We wanted a private and quiet holiday in a beautiful surrounding and this is what we got! We enjoyed our 10-days-stay at Damir's house very much and would highly recommend this to our friends too!

PS: Visit Falco for a drink if you go there!

We stayed in the honeymoon suite at Villa Rosmarinus for our honeymoon in July 2010 and loved every moment! Set in a quiet and peaceful area of Hvar, Villa Rosmarinus has views of unsurpassed beauty looking over the blue seas of the Adriatic. We had seen photos of the apartment on the internet, but seeing it exceeded our expectations. Damir, the host, has gone to great lengths to create a beautiful place to stay.

The apartment is very spacious, and includes one small and one large private balcony. The large balcony also has a small kitchen area with fridge, gas stove, kettle etc.

The apartment had its own seperate access, which meant that we could enjoy complete privacy and seclusion. Damir left us to our own devices but was a very helpful host, suggesting local places we could visit. He also provided a laundry service, and offered us fresh beach towels every day.

There are beautiful beaches just 2 minutes walk from the apartment, which were a little less busy than the ones closer to the centre of the town. We didn't feel that the walk into the centre was so far - in fact, we quite enjoyed the walk to and from town which runs along the coast. It is lovely! There are a couple of sets of stairs to tackle, but they are not any major problem; you may see it as invigorating unless you have some health issues.

For the price we paid, we definitely got a much better deal than if we had stayed in a hotel. It is far more luxurious, and we got a lot more space, privacy, and peace than if we had stayed in a presidential suite in any of the hotels in Hvar. We would not hesitate to recommend this place for a honeymoon or for anybody who wants a peaceful holiday in an absolutely gorgeous location.

We spent the paradisiac holidays in Croatia and especially one week at the Rosmarinus Villa, marvelously located, 15 minutes by foot to downtown of Hvar by the seaside promenade. Each room very well arranged with an amazing sight on the not far away Pakleni islands. Below of the villa, is a quiet small bay with turquoise water . The nights are smooth and soft ( efficient and quiet air-conditioning), and Damir and its charming assistant Emma is with the small care for their residents. Finally the garden is planted Mediterranean (the figs are delicious) and African trees. An address to be recommended absolutely.

We stayed one week in Villa Rosmarinus. It was our first time in Croatia. We really enjoyed our stay. The villa is perfectly located: close to the sea and not so far away from the city center (20minute walk along th beach). The view is amazing. Damir is a very good host and gave us very good advice about the place to sea and to eat at. The room was very comfortable, clean and well furnised. We also used the shared kitchen, which was really practical.

I stayed in Palm 2 for a few days of our honeymoon. I chose it over the Hotel Podstine down the road, and am very glad as Podstine cost more for less, and would not have had the very unique nature of Villa Rosmarinus. The room is fantastic, very open and airy with a bed area and a sofa area with plenty of space in between, wood block floor, enormous wardrobes and 2 A/C units that deal nicely with the summer heat. Bathroom was quite large, with a big powerful shower and soap provided. the shutters on the doors make for an easy lie-in, and the very peaceful location at the end of the road (25 mins slow walk from the harbour, 5 mins downhill roll to the nearest shore-front bar which sells a great ham/cheese toasty and has great swimming in front of it off the rocky shores of the island.

The view from the shared terrace is amazing, you could sit and look at it all day. The terrace may be shared, but there is relative privacy as there are plants between the 2 parts of the terrace and between the terrace and the stair away from the villa, mostly herbs - rosemary, lavander etc so very aromatic. many of the hotels in the centre had 'sea view' rooms for more money, but now I have been past them I see that most of those have bars below so not ideal if you are after a peaceful trip! in contrast Villa Rosmarinus is in a very peaceful location a gentle walk from the town centre.

Damir was great, very communicative over the reservation and helpful with tips/info before arrival, and very accommodating of our rather late arrival.. other posts highlighted he keeps hold of guests passports so that wasn't a surprise, and I don't see as a problem. certainly more than outweighed by the personal touches and additional smiles, stories and local information provided in return.

overall a very relaxed atmosphere with plenty of suggestions from Damir of places to go/where was best for the weather, food, etc. we'll be back!

one more tip - it's probably been fixed, but I'd avoid the Hpyo group ATM in town - it failed to return my cashcard as the card slot was poorly aligned, and as it is not attached to a bank (it's a standalone machine outside a casino/games room) it was impossible to attempt to retrieve. the machine has probably been fixed by now (it was out of use within an hour having obviously kept every card put in it) but still, not very helpful on your honeymoon!

I had no idea what to expect given the mixed reviews of this villa. Having stayed there two nights, I now can understand why some people love it and others hate it. The villa itself is a spectacular building, with large rooms and amazing views. However, it should probably be billed as a longer-term rental than a B&B, as it is not that well suited for those who are expecting the amenities. usually associated with the latter My two largest gripes were that there were no toiletries provided (and we had not brought soap) and that there were only sheets on the bed (no duvets--Damir, the owner did say he could provide these, but we did not know they would be needed until the middle of the night when we discovered there were none in the room).

We stayed in room 1, which has a lovely balcony, although other guest have to walk by this balcony to get to their rooms (so if you prefer privacy you might opt for another room). Our room and bathroom were quite large, and well maintained. There was free internet, but it only worked if you had your computer out on the patio (and seeing the screen during the day was difficult). There is also a communal kitchen, which we used for making coffee (filters and coffee maker were available, we provided our own coffee). The kitchen could have been kept a bit cleaner; I admit to being a cleanliness fanatic, but the oven and floor were quite dirty and I would not have really wanted to cook a full meal there.

Damir is a character, and told us a number of stories, most of which were believeable (even though others have expressed doubt about them). He apparently was a personal trainer to the stars, having spent many years in Los Angeles. He does live on the property and walks around it a fair amount, so again some people may object to the lack of total privacy. We found him entertaining and helpful, especially for a restaurant recommendation at which we ate at on two different nights. My husband also rented his mountain bike from him for 20 Euros/day.

We did have some problems in payment for the room, given that we had to wire money, which Damir initially said he did not receive. When we got his bill, it was also wrong, presumably because the bank had made an error in converting the wired amount. When we paid the balance in cash, he did not count it at that time and later came back saying we had short changed him 200 kuna. i will give him the benefit of the doubt on all these fronts, but the transactions were all somewhat distressing.

Although the room was one of the most expensive ones on our 2 week trip to Croatia, it was a unique experience staying there and one that we will not forget. I would definitely recommend this place over a fancy hotel, but come prepared knowing that you will not have all of the amenities that you get in either a hotel or B&B.

In mid june we stayed 1 week at the villa in the wonderful room Palm 1. The whole place is very special, a successful mixture of nobless and wilderness which you will not find a second time in all of Hvar. A peaceful and romantic place to relax. Also the host Damir
turned out to be a nice guy and we were wondering why he got in some cases such a bad valuation. He even picked us a big box of the fantastic herbs he is growing, which we are still enjoying at home. If you are prepared to walk and if you like nature combined with some luxury, that is the place to stay with all the fantastic herbs, flowers and greenery and the stunning rocks at the background not to forget the great views
even from the bed. Certainly we have not been the last time at Villa Rosmarinus.
