“House Gordana - Hvar Heaven! Hospitality Heaven! Hugely recommended!!!”
Reviewed June 9, 2013 via mobile

I needed to update my previous review of this B&B as I am always so over whelmed by the place and the people. This is our fifth time at House Gordana and it still meets every expectation and more! Marija, Miro and family are the most fantastic hosts. Nothing is too much trouble, everything is geared towards making our holiday as relaxed and comfortable as possible!! A fantastic spot. Miss this place at your peril!!!

A much appreciated gesture was Marija picking us up at the bus station thus saving us dragging our cases uphill. She then welcomed us with a glass of wine before showing us our charming, clean room with its little balcony. Free wifi was provided & we were very pleased with everything & considered it excellent value for money. The friendliness of all the family was an added bonus but the star was Marija with her friendly attention to detail & willingness to help. The farewell glass of home-made wine was an added bonus! We'll definitely recommend House Gordana as the place to stay when visiting lovely Hvar.

Felt like I was at a home away from home! Free wifi, drinks in the fridge, and we were able to use the washing machine for free (which was especially handy after swimming and we'd been travelling for some time). The kitchen was very nice to have too; there is a supermarket close by in town centre. The location is a small hike up but we soon got used to it. The room was very clean, modern, with comfortable A/C. The only thing is we didn't get to use the balcony much because of mosquitos. Still, the amount of space and amenities was excellent for the price! I would stay there if I visit Hvar again.

We arrived via ferry from Korcula and stayed for 2 nights. Marija gave us detailed instructions on how to get to the bus station/ carpark where she picked us up. This was a wonderful gesture; House Gordana sits on a slope and it wouldn't have been easy getting there with luggage. At the House, she provided very helpful tips on directions, landmarks, things to do, travel arrangements, day tours etc. The information helped us cut down our travel administration time and allowed us to spend more time enjoying the town and surrounding islands. The room does not come with a television set but there is free wi-fi; it is basic but clean and very good value for money. The real star however, is the kind and friendly host family, who has made all the difference. Recommended.

My boyfriend and I stayed at House Gordana for 5 nights in August 2012. We had originally only planned to stay for 3 nights but fell in love with Hvar and enjoyed staying at House Gordana so much that we decided to extend our stay. We can’t speak highly enough about our stay at House Gordana, from my first interaction with Marija when I emailed her she was friendly and helpful and this attention to her guests continued throughout our stay. We had an air-con room on the ground floor with our own bathroom across the hall. Price-wise, it was great value for money. It is located less than 10mins walk from the town centre so very convenient.
The whole family were so welcoming and made us fell so comfortable, by the end of the stay we felt very much like we were part of the family. Nothing was too much for the family, they even washed my boyfriend’s clothes for him when he ran out of clean clothes. The other guests were lovely too, often we would all eat our breakfast together and chat. By the end of our stay we were sad to leave - it truly was perfect- we loved Hvar and loved house Gordana, to top it off Tom Cruise was also in town at the same time! We will definitely be returning!! Thank you Marija and family, from Lauren and Colin.

We stayed here for 3 nights and Marija and her husband were great hosts! They even let us stay until it was time to catch up ferry in the afternoon without paying any extra.
The room was basic however fit the purpose. Great value for money.
Only thing I would mention is that the bathroom did not ventilate very well so there was always a bad smell.

We agree with the consensus on Tripadvisor and think it worth saying again that our stay at House Gordana for a week in late August was excellent. The House offered exactly what we were looking for at a great value - a place that was well situated, comfortable, clean and safe, which we could then use as a base to explore Hvar. The family was friendly, conscientious and ready to help with any issues (they helped us coordinate the repair of our flat tire).

The House was situated close enough for a quick walk to the center, but still offered a minimal amount of noise from the city or street. We were always able to park our car in the driveway. In the kitchen, we found everything we needed in good condition. We enjoyed our breakfast and a drink in the evening out on the patio. The other guests were pleasant and well mannered.

We stayed in one of the apartments on the top floor. The room was simply furnished but well-appointed. There was enough space to unpack and store everything. The bed was comfortable and the room never got too hot. From our veranda, we had a sunset and ocean view.

When we arrived late on a Sunday evening, the family met us at the bus station and greeted us with a beer, and when we left a bottle of homemade wine and dropped us off at the station. These were two small examples of what made our stay at House Gordana so enjoyable and bookends to a wonderful trip.
