“Great location”
Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

We stayed here 30.9-13.10.13. The hotel is pleasant. Rooms are a little tired and dated but adequate, clean with huge comfy beds.
The drinks and food were good and what you expect from a 3* all inclusive.
The staff are friendly and polite.
The location warrants 5 stars in terms of trip advisor rating. It's 100 meters from the first bar / restaurant and the 15 min stroll to the centre of Cavtat has many of these along the way. So if you fancy getting out to eat and drink occasionally there is lots of choice and a few get lively in the evenings.
There are some lovely cafe bars and restaurants in the harbour where you can happily pass a few hours.
The number 10 bus in the centre of Cavtat will take you to Dubrovnik for 20 kuna. (8.5-9 per £1). Well worth a visit and takes about 30-40 mins. We found it was a slightly better rate in Croatia than here. Use the banks in the centre of Cavtat.
It's very cheap to eat and drink. Usually 15-22 kuna for 0.5l beer, similar for a medium glass of wine and we often had a main course each with two drinks for under a tenner.
You can also use the water taxi to Dubrovnik. It's 50kuna one way or 70-80 return.
We booked trips within cavtat. Half the price of the hotel and very reliable. Michael (Delfin Travel) situated near to Ivan restaurant is highly recommended.
Transfer from the airport is under 10 mins.
The entertainment was better than some places we've stayed, not as good as others, but often fun and Ivan and Dubrovka were great sports.
We met some lovely people and ultimately that's what makes your holiday anyway.
I would recommend it as a good value hotel in a great location, bearing in mind we paid £1200 total for two people for two weeks.
Bars / restaurants I would recommend for service and value are Cool bar, Gemill pub and Ancora tapas bar.

Just returned from a fortnight's break at this hotel. On the whole it was clean and all of the staff, particularly the animation team (hello Ivan) were great. We paid extra for a seaview and expected a balcony as well, unfortunately this was not the case, you had to pay an extra 50 kn per night per person for this privilege. I have never stayed in a hotel before where you pay for a seaview and this doesn't include a balcony. That said however the holiday was very enjoyable with trips out to Dubrovnik, the Three Island Tour and Montenegro which is a must. When booking trips your best bet is to see Michael very close to the town of Cavtat. He offers good deals at good prices. Food at the hotel was plentiful but there was a lot of pork. The wine on offer in the restaurant, both red and white, was fine as was the beer but don't expect the head on the lager to last for very long. My one concern about this hotel is the number of cats roaming inside and out. They are allowed in the restaurant and some guests were evening feeding them under the table. This I found very disagreeable as one of our friends is petrified of cats and seeing them in the restaurant just wasn't right.

All in all Croatia is a beautiful country and we would return again maybe to the north next time. We met some lovely people on this trip, Alison and Mike, Pat and Judith and Dale and Nichola, hello to you all, you made our holiday.

Alison, I have just one thing to say to you - Ribby Hall and four candles. I think you will know who this review is from my little mole catcher!!

Room Tip: Book a room with a sea view but beware you will also have to pay for a balcony.

The hotel is situated in the far end of a large bay and the surroundings are absolutely spectacular. Cavtat has so far retained the identity of a beautiful little village but the fishing has all but gone and has been replaced by cafes and gift shops catering for the tourist trade. The room was described as 'Double with garden view'. The room was well appointed with a good standard of cleanliness but the window had non-opening security shutters which prevented any view at all and made the room dark for the whole of the day. My stay was half-board. On the Monday, like most of the guests I was confined to the hotel by a violent thunder-storm. There was nowhere in the main building to buy food or drinks at lunch-time, but facilities were available at the pool side bar which was 100 metres away. Guests on all-inclusive and full board were catered for in the main building. There were three local bars which were all but useless so unless you are all-inclusive and not on a day trip then expect to walk the village for drinks and food. Evening entertainment was generally of a good standard but the two evenings of entertainment, including the bingo, which were put on by the hotels own entertainment staff were rather childish. The hotel staff were good mannered and helpful. I found the restaurant staff rather too enthusiastic and whipped the plates away as soon as you had taken the last mouth-full. Food was of an average standard but menu planning was strange, for example on the evening that one of the dishes was curried chicken was the only night that there was not rice on the menu. On the Friday there were two vegetables to accompany the roast meat but the only potatoes were chips. There were however potato scallops every day at breakfast. Overall however I did enjoy my stay, but if I did return to this hotel it would definitely be all-inclusive.

Myself and my husband returned from croatia on Oct 6th having stayed at the Epidaurus for 2 weeks, having read some reviews before travelling I did wonder if we had made a mistake. But no it was very good value for money. As mentioned in other reviews the layout of some rooms could make acess difficult for some, and knowing what grade of room you have booked before arrival is a must. We had a garden view which was light and airy did not have a balcony but as we were not in the room much was not a problem.
We were all inclusive so ate mainly at the hotel, the food was plentiful and most people would have been able to find something to their taste. The local wine and beer was fine, the restaurant staff were all very courteous and if you let reception know you could collect a packed lunch for next day if you were out for the day.
The animation team were enthusiastic and never seemed to lose their smiles or energy.
THe scenery around the hotel is beautiful and catvat is unspoiled, their are plenty of boat trips and days out to go on, and local bus or ferry to dubrovnick.
We had a great 2 weeks and met some lovely people to spend the evenings with and Ken "put your brown trousers on!"

Room Tip: Book at least garden view or sea view, if you want a balcony you have to pay more again.

the resort of cavtat is a charming little place lots of restraunts and bars but its not tacky.Only twenty minutes on the bus and your in dubrovnic .The most beautiful city i have seen however its a favourite destination for cruise ships so it gets crowded so your best going to dubrovnic in the evening when the cruisers have gone to their liners .The epidaurus is in need of a makeover and has apparently been bought by new owners for this very reason lovely location georgus sunsets clean water i would be happy to stay there again.

The hotel was clean but a bit dated. The bedroom was quite large but a bit awkward to get to, being up a flight of stairs after the top floor the lift serviced. So not all rooms would be suitable if wheelchair were needed.

The food was varied and plentiful, although to the end of our week's stay the variety was diminishing and the fresh griddling as you waited stopped. We put that down to the number of guests reducing being close to the end of the season.

There was talk that Iberostar we're selling the hotel o a French-Croatian group before the end of the system.

There was free wifi in the reception area but it was a bit patchy, seemingly unable to cope with numbers of smartphones & tablets try to use it.

The animation team were (still) enthusiastic.

The hotel was a shortish level walk along the shoreline road to the centre of Cavtat itself.

Room Tip: Ensure the floor is serviced by a lift without needing to use a flight of stairs at each end of the...

First time in Croatia, definitely go back, We stayed for one week in June 2013 at the Iberostar Epidaurus the hotel and staff were excellent, especially the entertainment staff, they were on the go all day long then ashow at night. if going to this hotel make sure you book a sea view as the views are some of the best I have seen from a hotel balcony.
The resort of Cavtat is quite relaxing and very peaceful, beach is shingle but the water is beautiful. The city of Dubrovnik is just across the bay and well worth the trip either by boats or bus.watch the sun set over Dubrovnik for a spectacular sight each night.

Room Tip: sea view is a must as rooms at front of hotel have no balconies
