Very Good - was looking for old postcards of the area, ie pre 1960, but didn't find any here! not sure where I would find these, but it was very interesting place to visit

“Such a cute Croatian village!”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

Cavtat is built on a small peninsula on the Adriatic coast, about 20 m. by car or bus south of Dubrovnik. There are several interesting churches, a leafy cemetery on a hill with lovely views, a tree shaded promenade around the village close to the sea and many coves to swim and snorkel. The village is close to another small wooded peninsula with a hotel, more paths to hike and more coves. It makes a very pleasant half day / day visit from Dubrovnik.

Tip: In my opinion, the best way to visit from Dubrovnik is to go early in the morning with public transportation - a bus or a boat -, spent a few hours in Cavtat, have lunch in one of the many open air restaurants and then come back with the regular boat, in order to see the walls of the city under the light of the afternoon sun: they shine as if they were made of gold.

“Beautiful”

Bouganvilla & Kamen Mali highly recommended. Fantastic ice cream @ the first shop you see entering the town. Both churches worth a visit. Great views from the cemetery if you don't mind the climb!

“Brilliant place”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

I almost wrote a bad review for Cavtat hoping it would put people off! Cavtat has some of the most amazing and delightful views all around. The whole area is clean and has plenty of good bars and restaurants. Lots of good fish. Hiring a boat or a scooter is a doddle compared to most places. However surprisingly you do need a permit to fish even in the sea.

Ferries to Dubrovnik and some of the most beautiful islands in the world are regular and cheap.

The surrounding sea is full of fish and the water is clear. I highly recommend taking snorkling gear.
