Lovely views of the bay, beautiful monuments to the departed, flowers lovingly arranged, set around the Racic Mausoleum.

Small, well kept cemetery with mausoleum in a spectacular location atop the hill overlooking both Cavtat and north to Dubrovnik. Clearly well cared for as there are a lot of fresh flowers and remembrances.

It's a hike (steps) up to the top but rewarded with great views. Interesting Mausoleum at the top too.

We had a couple of days in Cavtat so one night we decided to go for a walk up to the Racic mausoleum. The walk in itself was very serene and tranquil. You could see the lights of Dubrovnik and the other islands all lit up. The Racic mausoleum was on top of the hill and it felt a bit spooky and eerie considering it was 12:30 am. However, it was a great trip and we enjoyed every bit of it. It was too dark to go through the epitaphs and unfortunately we couldnt go back there during the day. But we had a great experience. The walk is highly recommended.

During a harbour day during a cruise in Dubrovnik, we decided to take a small ship to the small town of Cavtat. If you take there the time to walk up the hill you'll be rewarded by the wonderful sight of the Racic mausoleum.

It was designed and built by Ivan Mestrovic a famous Croatian sculptor. The mausoleum was commissioned by the wife of a local shipping owner whose entire family died in the flu pandemic after World War One. There are some wonderful sculptures both inside and out. The ceiling is especially magnificent.
Please be aware that there is a small entry fee.
