Just returned from Hotel Cavtat. Perfect location. well worth paying the extra for a sea view, the room was on the small side but very clean and was attended to every day with a fresh supply of towels. The General Manager Iris very chatty and easy to talk to has a small team of people who were all very polite and helpful. There were a number of nationalities staying and most people acknowledged each other a nod, smile or a good morning, very friendly atmosphere. As previously mentioned the food was fine and plentiful, loved the bread. I must mention the Lavender massage, hurt my back 3 days before returning home so i chose the medical massage. The guy is jovial and helps you to relax and gave a great massage. I returned for a second treatment to ease my back before returning home, highly recommended. We will most definetly return. This is a general hot tip: ensure you take your battery charger for your camera or other equipment as you cannot obtain one locally or even in Dubrovnik or Port Gruz.

Room Tip: Worth the extra cost for a room with a sea view

Dear Guest,

Thank you for nice feedback on Trip Advisor!
As soon as I read about battery charger I remembered you and your lovely wife! I see you follow my advice to look for it in Gruz port, sorry you couldn`t find it there. Cavtat is small place while Dubrovnik is bigger (around 40 000 people) but still you can`t find always what you need here as it is small community.
Anyway I’m pleased you enjoyed your stay and from date of your article I can see you wrote it two days after your arrival back home. Our job is pleasure where when have such nice and polite guests as you and your wife are, and reading you were happy with everything is nice award for all of us.
We would happily welcome you again next year when you return, in meantime our team sends you warmest regards and wishes you and your wife all the best!

Cavtat had been recommended to us by friends - their recommendations were so true. An amazing place to visit and we had a wonderful relaxing break. Hotel Cavtat was superb. Staff friendly and caring (thank you to the young lady from housekeeping who helped me find the back of my earring). Hotel Cavtat I think has definitely the best location in Cavtat with great views, always something to watch in the bay and a great place to swim. Breakfasts were superb and evening meal ok, bearing in mind that they have to cater for a wide variety of tastes. Lots of other places to eat in the neighbourhood if you fancy a change. Definitely a must to visit the Spa - great massage and I was not disappointed with the facial done by a very experienced lady. Please don't read all the negative comments about this hotel - I will most definitely visit again.

Room Tip: Floor 4 or 3 for outstanding views of Tiha Bay

Dear Guest,

Thank you for nice compliments on Trip Advisor!
Your letter is nice touch for starting new working day. Since I was away from the hotel for a while as I was ill, coming back in the hotel and reading nice words about service, team, maintenance of the hotel it is just what I needed to feel good and to know that everything was well despite my absence. SPA team are real professionals, educated on high school for physiotherapists and beauticians that is why you felt so good after their treatments.
We hope other guests will read your article and will convince them to visit us! Till than our team is looking forward to welcome you soon again!

Warmest regards from the team of the hotel Cavtat!

Hotel Cavtat is a lovely hotel, no complaints at all. The staff were all lovely (esp our waiter Ivica Z). I sprained my ankle during my holiday and the staff were all very concerned about me and kind. The food was basic but perfectly acceptable, with lots of choice for breakfast and dinner. My only observation would be to dim the lights in the dining room in the evening, and have some background music playing, The dining room was too bright for romantic evening meals!!!! The rooms were cleaned every day, and the maid always managed to pop in whilst we were at breakfast so she never disturbed us. The beds are comfy, the view from our balcony was gorgeous, main part of resort was only a few mins away, and there are lots of nice walks to go on. Cavtat is not for young people, very quiet but we enjoyed looking at all the yatchts in the town and hoping to see someone famous disembark. We never did though!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing your impressions with Trip Advisor!
It is always pleasure reading how helpfully and polite our team is. Ivica was very proud when he read his name as it is recognition to his work. Since this hotel is not too big we feel like a big family and is nice when guests feel the same way while staying here.
Thank you for observation during dinner time, for sure we will start with music on each night. We usually put the music on but maybe sometimes they forgot to do it but from now it will be must. To dim the lights is very good idea but or lights work on system that we can all just turn them on at once or turn them down, there is no system for the gradual reduction and amplification of light. But that is one of the idea for refurbishment of the hotel.

Looking forward to welcome you soon again we send you warmest regards from the best location in Cavtat!

As already mentioned, the location is the standout reason for choosing this hotel. The views from the hotel and terrace are stunning. Cavtat is located on 2 bays and the hotel is on the quieter side but the busier harbour side with all the bars and restaurants is only minutes walk away on the flat .
<the 2 iberostar hotels are located further out around the bay and the hotel croatia is on the harbour side but located up the hill .>
The rooms were acceptable for a 3 star property and the bedroom and public areas were spotlessly clean .Staff were friendly and helpful .It is definately worth paying the extra for a seaview room with balcony. We slept well every night -everything very quiet .The airconditioning was very good and not too noisy .However dont expect extras like fridges ,hairdryers , tea and coffee in the room .
Cavtat is only 10 minutes from the airport so there is occassional aircraft noise overhead but it was not frequent enough to be intrusive and there was no noise at night .
There have been many comments about the food . It is a buffet breakfast and evening meal .
Breakfast selection was reasonably good .Evening meals had the same selection of salads and breads <good selection of different breads.>each night and usualy some type of meat .potatoes and veg and a fish dish with occassionally pasta . Desserts were uninspiring but there was always plenty of fresh fruit .We booked the hotel accommodation independantly and the difference in price between half board and B@B was only around £3.00.
My recommendation would be if you are staying for only a few days to book B@B and eat in the many nearby restaurants ,but for longer stays, the price of the half board option gives you the flexibility to choose to eat out when you fancy without worrying about the fact that you have already paid extra for your evening meal . I must say that some of the food we had in the hotel was rather good .
We had a lovely relaxing holiday and I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a peaceful break in a beautiful location but with lots do do on your doorstep.
Buses to Dubrovnic run hourly/half hourly through the day and takes approx 35 minutes .For anyone with mobility issues there are a LOT of steps down from the bus stop to the old town .A better bet would the water taxi which takes 50 minutes and will set you down right in the old port at the entrance to the old town with no steps involved .

Dear Guest,

Thank you for sharing nice experience of the hotel Cavtat with Trip Advisor!
Also would like to thank you for being realistic and honest in describing services of the hotel Cavtat. Extra payment of £ 3,00 is not too much for HB and I think anyone can find something for himself on buffet dinner table. Despite that we have a-la carte restaurant on our terrace with selection of dishes, so there are different options for each guest.
We hope our nice atmosphere, helpful staff, great location will attract you to come back again next year!

Warmest regards from the team of the hotel Cavtat!

We stayed here in early september, the location is superb. Just a couple of minutes walk to the picturesque town, pretty headland walks and easy access to bus and boat services. Loads of eateries and bars so half board isn't really necessary.
The restaurant staff were excellent, food of good quality for a 3 star hotel, and the basic bedrooms were kept clean although a bathroom refit wouldn't go amiss. We loved the little rocky area at the front of the hotel to sit in for cool shade and the fab views. No swimming pool here but the hotel has an area sectioned off in the little sea bay in which to swim...delightful.

However we prebooked sea view rooms and were very disapointed when given rooms with a view of the noisy back road and houses. When queried we were told these were sea view rooms and we couldnt be moved as the hotel was full. If we stood in the front far corner of our balcony, stretched out and looked sideways we could just glimpse a slither of water between the trees and houses!!!! Definitely needs a re classification of these side rooms. They are NOT sea view. We received no refund for this either. Clarify that you have a front sea view room if paying for this as the view of the bay is beautiful....we sadly missed this element of our holiday and never sat out on our balcony due to the noise of the cars and coaches which have to travel down the road to get to the town. What a shame this problem was not rectified during our stay.
Overall a friendly little hotel and we would return here If we actually got the rooms we had paid for.

Room Tip: If you want a sea view ask for a room on the front of the hotel, the bay is beautiful.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for commenting our hotel on Trip Advisor!

Sorry for your situation with rooms. You are right, we should have better classification for rooms as in fact we have: full sea view rooms, sea side rooms (one you had) and park view rooms. But when we started selling hotel for season 2012. last year, we weren`t still officially in the hotel and we couldn`t check each room. Just on January 2012. when we entered hotel and checked each room we released there are different type of rooms, as till then hotel was always selling only two type of rooms: seas view and park view. We knew immediately we will have problems with many guests as hotel was over contracted with seas view rooms and we actually didn`t have so many sea view rooms. Former management told us we want have any problems with that as they always operated in two type of rooms, but of course this summer we did have sometimes problems which is to expect. After this season we firmly decided to classify all three type of rooms and next year situation will be much better. Sorry once more you were one of the guests who ended up in sea side room.
As I can see you were happy with our service, staff, food so I really hope this misunderstanding with room won`t stop you to visit us again next summer!

Looking forward to host you again we send you warmest regards!
