“Jewel of the Dalmatian Riviera”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 20, 2011

Our first visit to Croatia and we weren't disappointed.
This hotel has a fantastic location just 10/15 minutes from the airport and approx 30 minutes from Dubrovnik by local bus.
It is situated in the middle of Cavtat which is a delightful small quiet resort with lots of lovely walks and waterside restaurants/cafes.
The hotel was spotlessly clean, well maintained and the staff very friendly and welcoming. The dining room got very busy when it opened at 7pm but by 7.45- 8pm the rush was over and there was always plenty of food at the buffet.
Views across the water to the mountains were magical, especially at sunset.
Well worth the extra to pay for a high rise room with sea view.
A word of warning -- as the hotel lies directly under the flight path to the airport there is some noise from passing planes but it doesn't last long and can make interesting plane spotting.
Will definitely return.

We really enjoyed our stay here because the staff were friendly and courteous and the hotel was comfortable and clean. The private area of the sea was great for swimming in and the roof top area was private and peaceful. The food was very good - both breakfast and the evening meal. The buffet meals were well managed - regularly checked and topped up with freshly cooked food. The menu was also varied and included local dishes - delicious! We booked half board, expecting to eat out a few times but we didn't bother. The hotel is in a quiet location just out of the centre but it was an easy, short stroll to all the amenities of Cavtat. Overall the hotel was very good value. Cavtat was a lovely resort - small marina, interesting local art, beautiful walks and of course, handy for Dubrovnik!

Stayed here for a chill out week before the winter sets in.
Couldn't have been more perfect, the staff were friendly the food was a good selection everyday and to top it all we were right on the sea front. Wonderful.
Yes, I read the reviews before we travelled and I can't understand why some people go abroard, many times we read, the staff were abrupt etc on continental holidays. In many countries people sound to us as though they arguing, abrupt , shouting etc., it's just there way of expressing themselves and there language is often gutteral sounding. We Brit's are generally quite spoken and genteele

Just come back from a week's stay at Hotel Cavtat. Our room was a good size with a balcony (view of the coast). The room & bathroom were cleaned to a high standard with excellent maid service every day. We went half board & the breakfast was really good, lots of choice, cereals, fruit, ham & cheese etc, and full cooked breakfast buffet style. Evening meal was also buffet style, with soup, good salad selection, and varied mains i.e meat ,fish & veggie options, potatoes, rice, pasta etc & included local specialities as well. However what made our stay were the excellent staff especially our maid & the waitresses in the restaurant who were efficient and very friendly. The hotel is in a fantastic location near to the infra structure of Cavtat. Cavtat is a lovely little place to stay, quiet & picturesque with mini market, post office, banks, chemist etc. & good bus service to Dubrovnik. We also recommend the mini bus trips to Mostar & Montenegro with Adriatic Tours (despite the heavy rain!). Croatia is a great place to visit. GO!

Had enjoyable week at this hotel .Perfect location in Cavtat which is a beautiful little place.Rooms comfortable.Lovely icecreams at local parlour for 6 kn which is about 75 pence.Turn left out of hotel and walk straight through the little street .Icecream parlour on the right after the chemist and supermarket.
Take no 31 bus to Kovanoski Divorni.Pretty little pace with lots of waterways and little lakes.Good restaurant which you pass before the bus drops you off so you have to walk back over the bridge. Called the Country Inn or similar.Lovely set lunch reasonably priced.
Another trip we enjoyed was to take the bus to Kupari and walked back to Milini along the coast. This was suggested iin Thomson guide but I would recommend getting off the bus at Milini and walking to Kupari as not then so steep to walk back up to the bus stop.
Found Croatia to be a liitle different from your usual sun holiday but would love to go back. Chatted with lots of people at the hotel and everyone seemed to love Cavtat.

This was our first experience of Iberostar and it wasn't the best. After being greeted by a friendly and helpful gentleman at reception who couldn't find our Expedia reservation (the first time we've had any kind of trouble booking through this company), we were referred to the manageress who was prepared to allocate us a room but not at the agreed price for half-board. Despite volunteering to phone Expedia, there then followed some unpleasant haggling until we were given the deal we were originally quoted.

Half-board turned out not to have been worth arguing over. The hotel attracts large bookings from travel agents and tour companies and people soon learn the knack of reserving dining tables with belongings and occupying preferred patches well in advance of mealtimes. Queuing for dinner was a tense affair, not helped by the tiny area in which the food was displayed which meant that you had one single-file chance to take what you thought you wanted without having any idea what was round the corner or any opportunity to go back to something you might have passed. All this was punctuated by serving staff occasionally shouting at guests in German. Drinks are not included in the price of your meal and are a good deal more expensive than the bar across the street or at anywhere else we went in Cavtat.

Breakfast was better and happily more relaxed. There are plenty of cooked options and the bread and pastries were fresh. Coffee comes by the pot and it was easy enough to find a nice table overlooking the water.

Rooms are average and chain-hotel-ish but cosy enough and comfortable with decent-sized terraces looking through greenery towards the sea. The hotel has been cleverly built so that such a large hotel climbs in degrees up the hillside and doesn't unnecessarily dominate the landscape. This means that most of the rooms have good views and balconies onto calm and quiet. No minibar, small TV, clean bathroom.

Cavtat's proximity to Čilipi airport (and local bus links) makes it a handy stopover from Dubrovnik or Montenegro. It's a peaceful waterfront town now well set-up for tourists with cafes, bars, ice-cream sellers and boat links to Dubrovnik. Clear calm waters and a couple of gently sloping beaches make it a little more child-friendly than some of the other resorts along the Adriatic coast.

Comfortable rooms with great view, this hotel is situated five minutes walk from the centre of Cavtat which is a beautiful, relatively unspoilt village. Dubrovnik is only a bus or boat trip away. The breakfast and evening buffet was plentiful and varied and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. It is under the flight path but this was not a problem and the benefit is a 10 minute transfer.
