We have just come back from 2 weeks at this spotless clean hotel. A pefect location and loads to do. The food was excellent I had 10 types of fish all cooked in front of me. The staff could not do enough for us. They were so friendly and helpful. Thank you to Franceso and his team also Nevan for cooking me the lovely fish and Marco 1 of the waiters we cannot name them all.We would rate this hotel as one of the best we have stayed in.I had a private tennis lesson with Toni well worth the money.

We had a good holiday in this rather ugly hotel which is however, in a beautiful location. The food was buffet style and a bit monotonous but was well presented. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The outdoor pool was always too cold, the indoor one fine. There were plenty of sun beds available. It was a real asset to have a ferry to Dubrovnik from the edge of the hotel grounds.

Have to state from the start my hubby has rated this hotel as one of the best we have stayed at!!

We ate lunch times at the snack bar which was lovely, clean and bright with lovely staff, only had two slightly disappointed lunches there, when the young lady cook was off, sorry but her replacement was not up to her standards!!! The pizzas were far too big for one, its a shame as most people were leaving a lot, perhaps make a smaller one, as such a waste!! The Restaurant is very noisy and cluttered and difficult to get an outside table. They changed the serving area just before we came away which I think was a mistake, as straight away next breakfast, the queues for the cooking stations were blocking the serving dishes so people found it hard to reach them and kept having to ask to get to them!! Can't comment on the entertainment as it was always inside and as late diners, by the time we arrived there was no where to sit, and as a smoker no where to smoke either as no outside area to watch the show from. So in bed by 10 every evening as the English choice of T.V. was CNN or BBC Worldnews!!! Plenty of other channels with films for other nationalities though!!!

When we arrived the young man on reception was polite but gave very little information, just a piece of paper with the mealtimes on and pointed in the direction of block A and that we were on top floor. No porter?? We struggled to the ground floor up the stairs for the lift as we hadn't noticed the slope to the side!! The bedspread was marked and coffee stained and what looked like small blood spots, asked for it to be changed but no hurry it would do the next day, it was changed immediately!! Now if you like your coffee on the balcony in the morning like I do, then your out of luck as it states quite clearly in the room pamphlet that electrical household items are not allowed and will be removed from your room and returned on your departure!!!!! WHY??? Plug sockets only two, one for the T.V. and one on the floor by the bathroom!! WHY??? The tier structure for the All inclusive is ridiculous!! The premium All Inclusive is an extra £20 p.p.p.n. so we stayed on the normal All inclusive which meant no branded drinks (understandable) but they only do non-alchohol cocktails, WHY??? They could do cocktails with their local branded drinks surely?? Also you have to pay a supplement for some of the meals, in the snack bar, noticed that the prices up to about 45 kuna were included on the lower A.I. but a supplement of 15 kuna for a chicken and bacon sandwich which was priced at 30 Kuna!! WHY??? Little or no information either in our room or in the Reception regarding the outside area, bus timetables, local sights, places of interest, a map??? They have a very confusing signpost by the pool which doesn't make sense with the direction the arrow is pointing, said they had another Plaza restaurant??? Where?? Also they have a beach bar which I only noticed the day before we left, which wasn't signposted but this was a payable bar anyway, needless to say it was always empty!!

My minor concern was the insistence of the staff and guests to feed the cats!!! I know these cats are necessary as they help keep vermin at bay, but they are feral and as such carry disease, so why are they being fed from the hotel crockery??? Cups of milk are put down for them, or they are fed leftovers from the plates of guests!!! The dishwashers need to reach a certain degree in temperature and if this is not met then not all germs are killed. Why can't they be fed from their own bowls away from the dining area, as the more they are pampered the more they will become a nuisance, as I know from the scars on my own hand from a past holiday when a feral cat jumped up and clawed to get the food from my hand.

My major concern with this hotel, however is a Health and Safety issue!!! During a bad thunderstorm I noticed on the B block that their metal fire escape is situated at the side of the building, and that the torrential rain was cascading through the overflow channels which were situated at either side of the fire escape. With the strong winds the cascade was being blown directly at and over the fire escape, which would make it perilous to use in such conditions!!! Block A didn't have a fire escape, ours was a second inside stairway to use, however the stairway was situated at about 10 rooms away from our room, so if a fire broke out between the stairs and the last 10 rooms either side then we would be cut off with no escape!!!
Two fire exits in the dining room are blocked. They have red buttons to press to release them, however you would have to move the tables and chairs away from the front of one to get to the button, or a Baby Grand piano which is in front of the other!!! Also the Civitas bar has a fire escape door blocked by tables and chairs on both sides!!! This to me needs to be rectified immediately.

Room Tip: Block B gets the sun in the morning so not too hot rooms in the afternoon

Our visit to Croatia was spoiled by staying at the Iberostar Albatros. Bar staff were cheeky. There were clear Heath and Safety issues. Food was boring and repetitive. Electricity seemed to be rationed with stairways in the dark. WiFi, what WiFi. We have been in Iberostar hotels over the worlds one is the worst ever.

Hotel
Our experience of the Albatross was not as bad as davmccall who said that Iberostar should be ashamed. We stayed there September 2012 and had the room next to davmccall B022. I would advise anybody offered a room on this level to refuse it as the rooms are very dark and offers a very limited view of the sea. However, we asked for a change of room after a few days and were given one on the first floor which was much lighter and offered a much better view. The staff were on the whole very helpful and accomodating. There were however some negatives. The evening entertainment was very amateurish and not really worth watching. Also my wife sprained her ankle and we were surprised to find the hotel had no first aider availble. On the positive side the food was very good and the events orgainiser was extreemly helpful. We really enjoyed Cavtat and would go back again.
Epidaurum Diving
Epidaurum are by far the worst diving orgainisation I have ever dived with and I did not feel that my safety was being looked after. They did not ask what my experience was or when I had last dived. I was not buddied up with another diver for predive checks. There was no proper dive briefing before the dive and once in the water it was follow the leader. If diving with 15 other divers you would expect there to be more than one dive professional looking after the divers.

Room Tip: I would advise anybody offered a room on the ground level in block B (eg B022) to refuse it as the r...

We recently stayed at Albatros Hotel, booked through Jet 2. Having read previous reviews about the entertainment being mainly outside and very loud I had emailed the hotel and requested a quiet room. We were allocated a room in Block B, overlooking the pool, and also on the side of the entertainment.

Usually when we go to a hotel we can choose whether or not to attend any entertainment (and we usually choose not to), but here it is thrust upon you and you cannot escape if you want to sit outside after dinner and are overlooking the pool, or even if you are inside with doors closed and TV on in a room overlooking the pool. It was very loud some nights and not good if trying to have an early night. We did have a couple of wet nights when the entertainment was inside in the bar area and that seemed to be much quieter and more acceptable. There were a couple of acts which we did like, the group who entertained on the Croatian Night and the guitar player, but we did not much care for the hotel's own entertainment.

After a few nights I complained to the manager and asked for a change of room and we were then given one in Block B on the garden side. This made a great difference as you couldn't hear anything from there and we still had a side sea view.

Otherwise, we did like the hotel and the staff were lovely. We were on an all-inclusive basis and while the food was not fantastic there was always enough choice so you could find something. The hotel's all-inclusive policy seemed to be unnecessarily complicated and we were originally given wrong information by reception staff as to what drinks were or were not included. It took one of the young waiters to explain it properly after a couple of days and I felt we should have been given a clearer written list when we arrived. The trouble is also that they seem to have a basic all-inclusive and an all-inclusive plus which allow different things.

This hotel is in a lovely position and Cavtat itself is beautiful although very small. There is a lovely little harbour with several cafes overlooking the water to choose from.

Room Tip: Block B Pool Side for entertainment and shade in afternoon Block B Garden Side for quiet and sun in...

First time visitor to Croatia & The Albatros Hotel. Stunning location a short stroll from the centre of town.. Beach just a few steps from the hotel.Boats are 20 metres away+operate to Dubrovnik at 80 Kuna return. Bus in the town to Dubrovnik is 40 Kuna return, take your pick. Hotel has show cooking at breakfast+evening meal.Lots of choice at both. Breakfast with omelettes, scrambled+fried eggs.Several types of very fresh bread.Fruit+yougurt cold meats/cheese.Selection of teas but I would suggest like us you bring your own favourite tea bags and enjoy your cuppa.Evening meal outstanding. Melon+fruit to start.Huge salad bar with excellent beetroot each night.Show cooking featured steaks, chicken+fish. Shark on a couple of times. I had turkey twice.Hotel rooms large with free fridge +TV. Big bathroom and very modern.
Before you go email Branka and ask for a sea-view room. We had a great room B379 with a great view of the sea. Good free show each night. We went to The Grease Night. Excellent.
When in town treat yourself to the best ice-cream this side of Italy. Visit Kuca Sladoleda(House of Ice-cream) just 4 doors from the PO. Huge choice all at 7Kuna

Room Tip: Try section B. We had room 379. Email Branka before you go
