“An interesting house and gallery”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

There is a small charge and the lady then tells you a bit about the house and Bukovac. After this we were left to go around on our own. The paintings on the walls that have been uncovered of birds and animals are lovely and there are good self portraits of Bukovac and his family, including the rather bizarre one of his and his wife's head on a table with the families heads hanging down! There is also some interesting furniture. Well worth a visit.

“Wonderful insight into the life of the Artist Bukovac”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

Discovered this smal house where Bukovac and his family lived. You get to see many of his works and influences of the art world of his day. His days in Paris and in Prague and at home. Unknown in the Western world but a must see exhibit/Museum. A place for all Art lovers to see while in Cavtat. Just 2 minutes off the main port area.

“Charming little resort”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Cavtat is some 20km from Dubrovnik and is a charming resort on the Croation coast and well worth a visit if you're in the area. We got a return bus journey(cheap) from Dubrovnik and spent a good 5/6 hours there walking around the bay, looking in the few shops and having lunch in one of the many restaurants etc. You can get boats from Dubrovnik and although this is a more expensive option I'd consider it next time as the return bus journey was awful. The bus driver just kept picking people up en route and we were full when we left Cavtat but he just kept packing them in with no apparent restrictions

“Great place to visit for an hour or two”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

This museum is well worth a visit. It is sign posted from the harbour area, just past St Nicholas's Church on the right. Although we hadn't heard of the artist, the house itself is beautifully renovated and restored. There is a nominal entrance fee and the curator is very helpful, providing an overview of the house and Bukovac's life. The hand-paintings on the walls are amazing, particularly the ceiling on the first floor. It is an unusual concept, and one we had not come across before. He was obviously extremely talented and we spent a very interesting hour or two walking around and looking at the artist's work. We virtually had the place to ourselves which added to the peace and tranquility of the experience. If you visit Cavtat, this should not be missed!
