Visited Bol almost 30 years and decided a return visit was long overdue. Booked this hotel as it seemed the hotel was just what we wanted in terms of location, between Zlatni Rat beach & town. We didn’t want anywhere with lots of entertainment, just a pool & bar.
The room was clean and fairly basic, with bath which was plus for me. We were in B wing on ground floor, we had balcony & views of trees & partial sea view. Unfortunately there was only one socket we could find, no kettle & fridge was full of minibar things & a note to tell you not to take anything out.
Apparently the hotel is due refurbishment & these will be addressed.
The food was great, plenty of choices for breakfast & dinner, you were allocated a table for evening meals & all meals buffet style, good choice of wine, but if you wanted water you had to buy bottled.
A problem getting into restaurant was having to climb a flight of stairs & then go down a flight, which could be difficult for anyone with mobility issues or young families.
The pool area was good, but I can imagine would be busy in height of season, shame there was no reduction for price of sun beds on beach. Nice bar with snacks available, only problem was the bar closing earlier than advertised a few times, despite people being there & no warning.
We had problems with air conditioning, maintenance man came immediately & when it couldn’t be fixed we were given alternative room.
Staff were pleasant & efficient.
Overall a great ( if not slightly tired) hotel, perfectly situated, with fab food

Our first visit to Croatia was delightful, giving us space to rest and recuperate. Friendly, kind staff. Good food. Quiet area in beautiful weather. There is no need to leave the area. A walk to Bol town was all we needed apart from the beaches.

Booked through TUI, myself, hubby and 2 daughters (age 9 and 13) visited for 2 weeks end of August. I researched thoroughly before choosing Bol as an area as there seemed to be lots of sites and activities that will hold all our interests. The transfer is approx 30 min coach from airport to harbour, 40 min ferry ride, 30 min coach to hotel, wasnt as bad as we thought. Arrived around 11pm and they left us cold meat salad and fruit/drink on arrival. Check in was quick. We stayed in family apartment slightly separate from main hotel. Clean and tidy but could do with updating. We stayed half board, breakfast had lots of variety and dinner was actually very nice with lots of choice and great little desserts. We ate out a few times (belvedere was very nice). Hotel has a lovely outside bar near pool with snacks -fabulous staff. Pool was lovely never overcrowded could always get sunbeds even peak times. some sunbed hogging by the same people but it never bothered us.
The best location, if you turn right 5-10 min walk takes you to the zlatni rat beach with its water sports and beach bars (we did the inflatable water park, parasailing , the sofa and slider fabulous) turn left beautiful promenade with little gift shop huts, and play area for kids takes you to bustling Bol harbour with resturants/shops and beautiful yaghts.
We went to Split on the catamaran from Bol, its great and recommend. We also booked a caramaran day trip through our rep Lesley (who is gem ) with lunch/drink privided, very good trip.
Annimation team work their socks off. They really try hard and are not too intrusive, you can be as involved or uninvolved as you want. Special thanks to Mati (dont know correct spelling) And team for ensuring our girls had a great time.
Heard that this hotel might be knocked down to re-build but they have decided to just re-vamp it, good idea. all you need is to update the rooms, perhaps have an outdoor eating area, re-vamp the reception area, some comfy pads to sunlougers, add perhaps a table tennis and fusball table outside for the kids and you will have yourself a 5 star hotel. These are minor updates really as you already have the best location and fantastic staff. We loved Bol and Borak hotel. We looked at the other 2 hotels (bonaca and elaphusa) but perferred ours. Lots of different nationalities, thats what makes it great. Im british but i hate the whole ‘brits abroad thing’ if you like irish pubs and burger king and kareoke on every corner this place isnt for you. Also lots of walking/steps etc, not good for people with mobility concerns. Overall had a fantastic time, i almost dont want to recommend it as i wAnt to keep this lovely place to myself.

On the whole we had a really relaxing and enjoyable family holiday. Hotel was in an excellent location, the entertainment crew were so friendly, food was good, hotel staff on the whole were friendly, good pool layout and good proximity to restaurant for those essential beers.
Negatives:
The pool needed cleaning more regularly, rooms needed renovation, ants in room, head board coming away from the wall with all loose electrics. The family apartments were separate from hotel bit of a walk up the hill. There was no help with luggage on arrival or departure. No view of anything apart from the back of another apartment. No garden view as advertised. My in laws came too and stayed in the main hotel they had to be moved due to air conditioning not working at all, new room air conditioning unit worked but was on its last legs.

If the hotel had a bit of a face lift it would be a really great hotel.

Had a great time at Bluesun Borak, great location and a relaxed ambiance. But the personel stood out the most. I want to thank Marko personally. He was very kind and showed me and my partner around in Bol.
Petra also needs a compliment for her service!
