Stayed in room 1209. Request it or a similar room for it faces the Jade dragon snow mountain. Pullman is best suited for couples with its romantic location. Staff was extremely helpful. Only letdown for us to rate it very good from excellent was that the toilet (outlet) leaked into the drain hole and there was a puddle each day that smelled somewhat. We didn't complain till checkout as we were into seeing as much as we can. We hope there will be more serviced bicycles and Pullman understands the need for a half day complimentary use instead of the 2 hour thing and a hundred yuan max daily penalty. Even a fifty yuan per day will be good.
Food prices and bar prices on the high side. No point in staffing it and pricing it to the point of practically having zero business each night. A special priced local beer/ drink together with the bar menu would have us there for a nightcap each night.
All in, the location and staff was excellent. Rooms very comfortable and we mostly will go back. Still will use the bar sparingly if no changes made.

Room Tip: room on second floor facing the mountain

We stayed in a one bedroom deluxe villa. The layout and design were impressive. Living room was huge and the bedroom was separated by a decently sized study room in between. Bathroom was also huge with a natural sunlight lightwell.

There was an outdoor jacuzzi which comfortably accommodated the three of us. Housekeeping would set it up a few hours before we returned from outside and the water temperature was just perfect.

The restaurants were nicely decored and the staff (Vincent) was friendly and spoke very good English. Conceirge was also good. Unlike other travel guides sourced by many hotels who were usually too gratuity-conscious, the local travel guide arranged through the concierge was extremely friendly, thoughtful and passionate about her job.

We also stayed a couple nights at the nearby Banyan Tree later during the same trip which was no comparison in all respects.

The Pullman Hotel Lijiang is a beautiful resort, with plenty of water features, reflective pools and interesting naxi style architecture to make it one of the top choice hotel destinations in Lijiang. This together with a contemporary asian interiors creates the perfect setting for a clam, quiet and relaxing holiday.

The location near Shuhe Old Town is not a problem for us as the hotel does provide limited shuttle service to the ancient town in Dayan and nearby Shuhe, and there is always the option of taking the taxi which is fairly cheap in China. Shuhe is definately a better place to stay if you are there for a few days but be prepared for the peace and quiet.

The only issue we had with the Pullman is the standard of service which is not entirely consistent. On the day of our arrival, the concierge was no where to be seen for the good part of the day, and while we had a breeze checking in, we had lots of problems trying to arrange for the use the hotel shuttle that day. Over the next few day the service seemingly got better with the concierge effortlessly assisting us in coordinating some of our travel plans. The hotel also is currently not able to make tour arrangements for guests (very strange we thought) although they say they can arrange for just the transport at exorbitant prices. Luckily we had stayed at another 5 star hotel in Dayan ancient town earlier, and knew how to make the tour arrangements ourselves so we managed to get around that problem. Or you can just hop into Shuhe ancient town and get in touch with a tour agent.

As for the 2 restaurants, they are also set in rather beautiful surroundings, and although we didn't mind so much the exorbitant prices the restaurants charged, we had expected the food to be of slightly better standards. All in all, expect an excellent hotel for the price that you pay, but be prepared to compromise on the standards a little.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms are nice, but if you can afford it go for the exclusive villas.

It's everything we thought it'd be except for - service - just minor issues here and there, but kinda brings you back to reality - that service mindset are still not so developed in some culture and will take a lot of effort to bring it to international standard.

For e.g. we have postponed our travel date by 1 day, and the key was not programmed to reflect this change. We were locked out on the last day of the stay. Not fun after a full day up in the mountains at freezing temperature.

We were told that we will receive discount on dining within property if we are a hotel chain card member, then, were told it has to be a card that's applied during the stay, then, there was no discount on the pre-booked breakfast anyway. Seems everyone has their own intepretation of how it should work.

Trip was postponed 1 day due to acute illness, but the hotel refuse to allow for the postponing of trip (i.e. wants to charge for 1 day extra) - even though it's obvious they are not fully booked. Staff checked with booking centre and came back with this news, in the end, have to ask her to resolve with hotel manager.

location is a bit far from the Lijiang oldtown, but walking distance to Xuhe oldtown, a smaller old town, but less commerical and quieter.

We like the hotel for the peaceful feel and the stunning view of the mountain - smack right into your face right after you come out of the looby into the compound.

My mom and I stayed in Pullman one night in Nov. Since it was not in peak season, we almost had the hotel and restaurants to ourselves. Had a very relaxing time there.Highly recommend the Chinese Restaurant. Food was all fresh and delicious. The Chef even came to our table helping with our order...many thanks to him!...All the staffs there were extremely friendly. Every details were paid attention to.
