After the throng of Lijiang ( which we enjoyed) it was pleasant just to meander around the tourist area of Dali old town. Everyone's on holiday so the atmosphere is relaxed, lots of cafes, shopping and photos of everything. And if you're a foreigner you may find that you are the main attraction, we stopped for lunch at an outdoor cafe and sat on for a while sipping our favourite german lager,we must of had our photo taken a hundred times, the misses felt like a movie star and remarked how glad she was she decided to do her hair that day, in the end we were inviting people over, bouncing their children up and down on our knees and generally having fun with it, we met so many lovely people that day and got some great photos. Another highlight on our wonderful Chinese adventure.

A Dutch lady told me that the name of the streets has to do with the lots of Groups Chinese coming to the street just just to look at Foreigners! And as we sat down and had our lunch, crowdes of people came passing by with a guide and they took photos of us! It felt very strange. As if I was a film star or a strange animal...
The streets has lots of restaurants and cafées and lots of shops with touristic souvenirs... It's enough to be there shortly...

Don't let the name allow you false expectations of excitement about this place; there is nothing about this street that sets it apart from any other bar / restaurant strip, set in any Chinese old town or street. But, still, good place to eat and drink, while watching the hordes swamp Dali old town.

Really enjoyed walking around the old tow of Dali, especially after coming from Lijiang. It's much more peaceful and far less people. There's a good selection of bars and little restaurants that serve quite good western food.

Likes - cheap good quality beer and spirits. great location and good service
Dislikes - watch the wash rooms, some can be very average for a westerner
