Great service and product (lovely room with good amenities, proximity to Dali Old Town and Three Pagodas, tasty breakfast) make this a wonderful choice for experiencing Dali's charms. All staff members are congenial, helpful, and kind, answering questions and assisting in activities. Added bonus is the cutest dog -- Dali!! Highly recommend.

This hotel was a short 10 minute walk from the old city of
Dali. Very clean and comfortable. No air conditioner but it was
not required for our stay in early June 2013. The free transfer from the Dali train
station on arrival was appreciated. There is a 40RMB
transfer available on departure. A convenient alternative to get to the train station is to catch bus 8
at the old city West Gate (10 minutes from hotel) for 1.5RMB (placed into a box as you enter the bus). The
bus terminates at the train station and takes less than an
hour. The staff were helpful and polite - thanks to YoYo and
Chris specifically. The English breakfast for 25RMB was freshly prepared and included egg,
bacon, baked beans, toast, and coffee, and was delicious. The
10RMB Chinese breakfast was also adequate.

This medium size hotel is situated just 5 minutes easy walk from the Old City. The owner, Lin, speaks fluent English as do some of her staff. Lin is full of useful information about things to do, and can arrange a driver for the day. All of this is at very modest cost. As part of her service she also arranges to collect you from the airport. The rooms are comfortable, and the food and drinks good. We highly recommend this establishment.

Your host Ling runs a little gem here, right outside of the west gate of Dali old town, up the hill in a quiet little street. She speaks fluent English, is extremely helpful and was lovely with the kids (our 4 year old daughter was still waving goodbye to Ling when our plane left off from Chengdu a week later).

The rooms around the traditional courtyard are spotless clean and very spacious with comfy beds and 24 hours of hot water. Wifi is available across the building and there is a small bar where breakfast and small snacks are served. You have the choice between British, American and Chinese breakfast, which is reasonably priced and has good portions. There is also a mini market down the street to buy supplies for your day trips.

We can only recommend this place!

Ling can be very proud of her delightful hotel. She speaks English quite well and is very helpful regarding any questions and requests. The hotel has an excellent layout which provides a relaxing atmosphere while one is not aware of the activity around the hotel. The rooms are very spacious and well furnished. The hotel is close to the lively Ancient City where there are enough restaurants to choose from. Ask Ling re sightseeing outside the city and transport for daily trips or to other cities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can recommend Dali Delights with much confidence.

One would enjoy one's stay even more between mid Feb and November when it is less cold. We slept warm, but the hotel can be cold because of the use of stone and granite which gives the hotel its special character. There are lovely spots in the hotel where one can lounge when it's warmer.

Thoughtfully laid out, clean, spacious, quiet rooms, comfortable beds, strong water pressure, very helpful British host, well priced extra services, brekkie available... This is a nice small hotel with Bai architectural details (ie. has white walls, airy, a courtyard) and good Western plumbing. The photos on their website are truthful. The rooms are on the second floor, no elevator but desk clerks will lug your luggage for you. Free Wifi but no pool.
The two three hour bus ride in from Lijiang took us through pleasant, very green rural landscape. We called the hotel and were quickly picked up in a newish car. No charge for the pick up, but airport drop off can be arranged for a small sum. The hire of a car and driver through the hotel to do our own thing in Dali for a day turned out to be much cheaper than our hailing a cab ourself.
The hotel is located on a pleasant side street on the edge of old town. It can be hard to find after dark because the street is not well lighted and the buildings look sort of alike. The bus stop is a 10 minute stroll away, convenient for a one yuan ride to old town which is one or two stops away or to new town which is much further away. It takes 30 minutes to walk to old town although you can see the walls from the bus stop. There is an interesting local market busy from morn til late afternoon further down from the bus stop. Wonderful local color-- old women in ethnic attires, street food, fresh fruits and veggies, used dentures for sale :-)
If I had to do it over again, I'd stay in a hotel right in old town because this way the walking/interesting sights ratio will be better. Nonetheless, I can recommend this hotel as an affordable, clean, comfortable place, to stay at the edge of Dali Old Town. There are several similar class and style hotels on the same side street but I do not know their price or if they have anyone on hand who understands English.
