Owner description: Rice & Friends Chinese cooking school offers hands-on Chinese cooking courses with English instruction in a beautiful open-air setup with mountain views. It is a very authentic and personal 5-hour cooking experience, including outdoor-market shopping for ingredients, introduction to the theory of Chinese cooking, hands-on preparation of 3 dishes with a recipe booklet to take away and plenty of time for everybody to sit down together and enjoy the meal they cooked themselves. The receipes has been tested overseas and specially designed in order to make sure you can still get all the ingredients for those dishes when you are back home.

“Nice cooking class in Dali”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

Just followed the cookingclass this morning and I loved it. Luxi, the owner, knows good english and explains everything perfect. It's a good way to understand the Chinese way of cooking better and get to know more about the culture and habits of the Chinese people. Also Luxi can tell you many things about China because she travels alot herself. I really recommend this to everybody, also when you don't like cooking it's nice to get to know the product you eat in the local restaurants.

“Fantastic Cooking Lesson”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

We're a traveling couple in our mid twenties and we really enjoyed this cooking class in Dali. It was very intimate and Luxi, the owner, is very kind and speaks perfect English. She really took the time to explain the dishes that we made and show us around the market. It was great to learn about Chinese cuisine from her and just chat over a few meals. Highly recommend!

“great chinese flavor”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

Luxi, the owner of rice and friend, is great! her lessons are clear and interesting and they give an experience about food in China from the market to the table. In China food is one of the most important thing in life: there you can feel it!
On top of it, the dishes she teaches are easy to make back home.
Great. i recommend it to all the food lovers.

“exceeding all expectations!!!”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

The cooking class with Luxi was an amazingly nice experience. Beside the tasty food and expert tipps how to cook the different dishes, we learned a lot about the Chinese cuisine and eating culture. It is definitely possible to cook the dishes at home, too, and Luxi adjusted the meal easily for vegetarians. The hole morning was definitely a highlight of our trip! Highly recommended!

“Well worth it!”
Reviewed August 26, 2012 via mobile

The woman who runs it is lovely, it was a great morning of cooking, although it is more fun than a serious cookery course. Two of the dishes were fairly similar in the way they were made, it would be nice to have used a different technique. That said it was great morning and I would thoroughly recommend it.
