“Lovely, well run place”

Hostel is set around a wide courtyard with a nice lawn and a view of the mountain above. Great convivial bar. It's just opened (2 months). There are dorm type rooms for a dozen people. The double-bed rooms for the more comfort oriented guests are great. Large, high ceiling, brand new with en-suite nice bathrooms, all white with minimal and smart wall decoration. The service is great. They can do laundry, efficiently and reliably book transportation at market price, run errands for you.Just ask. You can have your eggs and bacon breakfast and share lovely meals in a Chinese home made, delicious but healthy way. The lady owner speaks flawless English, Japanese, her mothertongue Chinese and is always there to help. The staff is young and keen to assist you in any way they can. The place is only a 5 minutes walk from the old town. The quality of silence at night is a dream. When I go back to Dali, I'll stay tther for sure.

I had stayed here for two time, and this is the only hostel that i m able to sleep more then 8 hours. They have a really nice yard and bar to chill with, plus staff were really helpful on my sightseeing and loads of questions. Frankly, i think the room prices is really good consider the service and hardwares around me.

Room Tip: book for single room, nice bed sheet and cozy

Traveled around Yunnan for one month, I found Dali to be my favorite town. And this hostel is the best place to stay in Dali. Friendly staff, clean room, tasty food, cozy yard and quiet night.. I enjoyed its lovely environment. The weekly events, such as dumpling party, hotpot party etc. were great fun! I also liked having Chinese family style meal with other guests.
The laundry service and rental bikes here are certainly the best deal in the town.

I booked a 3 night stay at 5 elements and 2 weeks later, I still haven't left. The staff is like family, the hostel feels like home, the guests are friendly and Dali is a fantastic place to chill out. The location is perfect - a 5 minute walk to town (which means there is no noise at night and you will sleep very soundly), easy access to Cang Shan mountain for trekking and a quick bike ride away from the 3 pagodas. You won't regret staying here (other than you will stay longer than intended!).

I had a great time at the Five Elements. The hostel is pretty new and I know it will get even better with time. The staff is really helpful and friendly. I grew more and more attached to the place as time went on. The staff is really good at connecting people and building friendships with the staff and with other travelers. I was sad to leave.
