“A good way to escape the hustle and bustle of Dali”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

We booked a two day cycling trip around the lake with Adam going to Shu An Lang for an overnight stop and then on to Chicken Foot mountain . Adam and Philippe are great guys. They are very friendly and enthusiastic. Everything was arranged to plan.
It was a good trip but did not live up to the hype of the previous reviews . The bikes were of moderate quality, we expected an adventure operation to provide better quality equipment. Don't expect deep insights into the culture, lifestyle or history as you pass by local villages and fields ;Treat it mostly as an outdoor adventure with good views . All food was provided in our package but we were a bit disappointed with lunch being Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
All in all we had great time. It just didn't live to the hype of previous reviews. Maybe we were just unlucky.

Let me begin by saying that this is the first time that I responded to a review, since I think that the experiences of our clients should be allowed to speak for themselves. While ClimbDali appreciates all feedback and tries to take it in stride, unfortunately, I think that this review is somewhat unfair:
1) "The bikes were of moderate quality, we expected an adventure operation to provide better quality equipment." It is unfortunate that reviewer did not mention this to the guide before departing, as she voluntarily selected her bike! Not to mention nearly an hour was s[pent changing the seat on the reviewer's bike on the second day due to complaints about saddle sore.
2) "Don't expect deep insights into the culture, lifestyle or history as you pass by local villages and fields." This is blatantly untrue, as there were numerous discussions about Chinese culture, business climate, economy, local religion, agricultural practices, environmental issues, etc. In fact, we made two special stops along the way at a local performance stage and a local temple. Guide answered questions about both places, though it should be noted that clients showed very little interest in both.
3) "All food was provided in our package but we were a bit disappointed with lunch being Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches." Dinner on the first night was at an expensive restaurant which clients selected. The cost of the meal was substantially over budget, but ClimbDali absorbed this, without asking clients to defray the difference. Lunch on Day 2 consisted of hard-boiled eggs, home-made bread, home-made peanut butter, jelly, and fruit, a combination which is usually a hit. (See earlier review entitled "eggs and peanut butter”). We even made a point of stopping for fresh oranges along the way, just picked from a local orchard. What more could you ask for?

“perfect hiking experience around Dali”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

Adam took us to a great hiking tour to the flower valley. It was wonderful to escape the busy and very touristic Chinese cities and to enjoy a hike in the nature, far away from any people. To our luck, we went to the valley, when all flowers started to blossom. It was really beautiful. Besides, we enjoyed all the insights about Chinese culture and history. We learnt more than from all other guides we had in the two weeks before.

“Visit these guys!!”
Reviewed February 24, 2013 via mobile

Ok so we didn't do any trips as it was new year and unfortunately Adam was out of town. However, through email Adam was able to order us a climbing rope without any problems and was super helpful. We climbed independently down at shuangluang cliffs and if your staying in Dali you HAVE to go on a climbing trip with them there as its awesome!! I cannot stress enough how helpful Adam was and just wish we'd had more time, I'll be booking a trip next time! They also do amazing pizza :)

“Excellent service, friendly staff and expert advice.”
Reviewed February 12, 2013

Myself and my partner recently bought equipment from climbdali And even though this was done via the internet for pick up when we arrived in Dali, the service was impeccable, Adam is a great guy who also gave us advice on the area and is the main outdoor adventure specialist in the area, I highly recommend climbdali. I can't wait to go back and go on trips with the guys there !

“eggs and peanut butter”
Reviewed December 15, 2012

Yeap, rocking outing. Went on a 2 day hike with Adam. Super cool guy, would heartily recommend. The route was great and I think Adam would gladly cater a trip to your needs, from physically challenging to a lighter stroll. There was even a smattering of historical insights and a guide to making your own peanut butter. For your information one of the ingredients is strangely not butter, it's a crazy world.
try the yak meat, it's great.

Henry & Leo
