Owner description: Jiuzhaigou Valley, eulogized as a world of magical fairytale, has for years enchanted tourists with its mountains and luxuriant forests, colorful lakes, gushing waterfalls and abundant wildlife. To its south is the Huanglong (Yellow Dragon Scenic Area). Jiuzhaigou Valley is located in Nanping County, 450 kilometers (about 280 miles) to the north of Chengdu City, Sichuan, covers a total area of 720 square kilometers and the valley is 50 kilometers in length. In 1992, UNESCO entered this scenic area onto the world natural heritage list.Jiuzhaigou, literally the Nine Village Valley, is hence known for the nine Tibetan villages within its boundary, Inhabited by Tibetans, the nine villages and alpine lakes, are like reflecting mirrors or crystal jade blocks inlaid in snow mountains and forests.

The colour of water in Jiuzhaigou is just amaizing. Excellent facilities for people who wish to walk.

How it works?
The park is in the shape of Y. If you have less time, just concentrate on the right side of Y. The park at the entrance is at lower altitude (bottom of Y), while the top tip of Y are at higher altitude. The bus takes you from entrance to the tip of Y.

You have two options -
1. Hop-on, hop-off the bus. The bus stops at all major tourist spots. Bus stops are well positioned. The busses stop only at the bus stations.
2. Walk-walk all the way. You can take the bus to the right tip of Y (Arrow Bamboo lake or Swan lake) and walk all the way down to the bottom of Y.

Some facts -
1. From the ticketing office till first 3-4 kms till Bonsai Shoals there is nothing much to see.
2. From Nuo Ri Lang Waterfall till Five Coloured Pool, there is nothing much to see. This I refer to as left side of Y. So you can concentrate on the right side of Y till Bonsai Shoals.
3. Make sure you carry sufficient water and food. Not many facility exists within the park. The one good place is near "Tourist Center" in the official map.
4. Nice wooden walkways are constructed. Use this. Walkling on the road is not welcome, but OK if it is unavoidable.
5. Make sure you keep the bus and park entry tickets till you exit.
6. I did not see any animals within the park. May be because it was Dec.

Enjoy!!

Regards,
Vijai

Jiuzhaiguo is a very nice place,is a fresh air, fresh tree, fresh sea... everything is very perfect BUT...
We meet a fxxx driver which is found from this website. A lot of people recommended him, BUT I would like to say his service is extremely totally BAD!!!!!
At the beginning, when we were landing at Chengdu, everything is like normal, he treat us not bad. The fox's tail was starting when we refuse to buy the show ticket he highly recommended us to buy at the next day. He persuaded us many times, but our intention is only view the scenery in our journey, not to any show or buy stuffs. after rejected, he started changing his face, his attitude was started not be patient anymore, shouted instead of talked with us.
I asked him what time we should meet on next day, ( he is our driver for whole trip, all the fee included for him already, he should be responsible to us) we asked how long does it take from A to B zone. He said around 2 hours. Then we said meet up at 7am. He said ""up to you, is your problem not my problem". We asked courtesy and patiently to him, he always showed unhappy face and impatient talk with us.

After that, on next day, he brought us to a super expensive restaurant. We insist did not eat the fish their recommended us, they still cooked for us. And its cost us RMB400 for the dishes, i curious why such dishes were so expensive, i found one of they charged is calling "bowl charge" which is when you were using the bowl, chopstick, plate, once you use it, you will be charged. OMG!!!

Here, i would like to share with you all guys, please don't find this with this self-fish, monetary slave for your trip's driver. He will be nice with you if you are his WATER FISH.

Here attached his name card and contact number. See you are one of Water Fish or not.

It seems one full day tour is not enough to explore Jiuzhaigou National Park. Too many beautiful scenery to enjoy. We could see waterfalls (such as Nuorilang waterfall, Shuzheng waterfall), alpine lakes (Mirror Lake, Panda Lake, Five Flowers Lake, Long Lake, etc.) tranquil grasslands, valleys, snowy mountains views and Tibetan villages by hopping on and off the sightseeing buses provided by the National Park. We were lucky the weather was cool when we got there. Bring snacks, foods and drinks when you want to explore the park. Toilets are easily to find. We can find local restaurants (for an instant noodle cup is RMB 10) and souvenir shops.

Fantastic everchanging scenery with extensive and very varied water features: vivid multi-hued lakes with mountain and tree reflections, rivers, rapids and waterfalls and a Tibetan village to boot. The park is Y-shaped, you start in the morning at the bottom of the Y, take a bus (or better one of the mini-buses as the regular buses can have very long waiting lines) to the top, then visit one arm, have lunch at the joint, then visit the other arm - lots to see and good walking paths. Unfortunately at this time in late October with the fall colors pre-dominant, there were a great number of almost exclusively Chinese visitors, we were told that 10-20'000 visitors come here daily. All is quite well organized, but you will certainly not be enjoying a solitary moment, but lots of fantastic views. Highly recommended.

The most memorable place during the visit to Sichuan. The national park was clean and well organized. The only public transport in the park is the bus, it's kind of hop-on hop-off bus, take you to various sight seeing area.

We stay in the hotel outside but nearby(within walking distance) the national park (no one is allow to stay in the national park). Hot water facilities are limited, most hotel only provide hot water for limited time except the 5 star hotel(like Sheraton). Do plan your bath time if you are not stay in 5 star hotel :p

We are there during the beginning of Autumn, the tree still green and not much colour change. But the lakes are crystal clear and turquoise waters. This is the place you should not miss during your visit to Sichuan.
