I stayed at the Sheraton Birmingham because I had a meeting at the Convention Center. The hotel is okay, clean with comfortable beds and decent showers. The rooms are attractive enough. The plusses for me were the location and the reasonable price for the room. Breakfast, however, was expensive and terrible...really terrible. When I asked for freshly squeezed juice, they tried to pass off carton-juice as fresh by saying it had orange bits in it. The fruit was past its prime and the buffet was dull and tired. Even the toast was stale. Service was also bad, from check-in through the bar where they gave me a glass of wine in a hot glass straight from the dishwasher and seemed surprised when I complained. Reception was not good either. My best experience was with the concierge who made an effort. All in all, this is a very disappointing hotel in a boring part of town. Nothing except the convention center is walkable, not even a Starbucks!!

This hotel is MASSIVE and if you are going to Birmingham you will probably stay at this hotel. It is a big mess and the staff are as confused as you are lost. There is a big atrium and if you can... try not to stay there. I stayed in the tower and those rooms are quiet and for the most part have windows that face outside. There is no laundry but there is a gym. There are constant conferences. The hotel is surrounded by closed down businesses... and a subway sandwich restaurant where I guarantee you will end up eating the majority of your meals. The best part is the cheap trolley up to 5 points area where there is actually food and a few things to do.

2nd night of a 2 night visit to area for business.

Hotel is worn out and in desperate need of a rennovation which I am told is under way currently. Club Lounge is closed as is all the Jr Suites so no true upgrades are available at my time of visit. Lobby is nice and gives a bit of promise but that is where it ends.

Rooms are dated, carpets worn out, furniture with cigarette burns and stains on club chair, all furniture is old a dated, lighting is old and dated and poor, overall room quality is poor, thin walls on this connecting room in the 17th floor. I can clearly hear the person's TV next to me.

Bathrooms are smelly and dated.

Room smells of must and just overall odor.

Gym has inconsistant climate and rusty beat up cardio gear and little weights.

Hotel is bearable and I am picky so for me it is a pass for next visit to this area. I personally prefer suburban hotels and came here knowing it was a downtown hotel and comes with a catch.

All in all keep looking.

We stayed here for one night at the end of February 2010. We used our Starwood Preferred Guest points so we were placed on the 16th floor (room 1602 – in the atrium) which afforded a terrific view of downtown Birmingham. Our room was large, comfortable, and recently updated with a huge flat-screen TV, granite bathroom and other higher-end amenities. I am attaching several photos of the hotel and room so that you may see how lovely the property is.

Check-in was a breeze and all of the employees we met were friendly and accommodating. Parking is attached to the hotel so you do not have to walk outside to reach your vehicle.

Our in room extras: coffee maker with teas and coffees, free bottled water, and complimentary toiletries. Our room also had an iron with board, a make-up/shaving mirror, and a hair dryer.

Stayed here because of a cheer cometition at the convention center. The only downside to report was the size of the room, it was very cramped. Otherwise very clean and comfortable. Staff was extra accomidating and kind. It was so nice to be able to stay in one place and walk to our event. Another downside was that they charge for internet service.
