Embassy Suites by Hilton Birmingham

We have stayed at this property repeatedly over the years for family events in the area. We had a 2 bed/2bath suite at a rate of $236 per night before taxes. Another family member was in a 2 bed suite, not sure of rate. Our room had some type of mold or mildew along ceiling/walls, as did family members. The rooms were both outdated and furniture was in need or repair or replacement. Previous quests items were found on the floor. Breakfast (which is included) was poorly executed. Too many quests, lack of food replinishment, lack of plates, cups, bowls, utensils. Many quests were seen taking food and drink items into pool area which is prohibited. And children were allowed to run the corridors well past midnight. It appears it was "Staff-friends and family weekend" We will stay somewhere else on future visits.

Room Tip: Select another property.

I traveled to the area last week on business and spent one week night at this hotel. It was one of the best experiences I have had in a while. I travel at least three to four nights per week. The rooms were clean, the staff was very courteous and pleasant, the entire facility is beautiful! Thank you for a great experience. Will definitely stay here again on my next visit to the area!

We arrived to the hotel and the parking is crowded because people are going to the restaurant etc... we somehow timed the parking just perfect. We checked in and the receptionist was very sweet. We had our complimentary drinks and appetizers then went to check out the room. It was very spacious and felt like a condo. The trees below and the sky light at sunset brings a vacation getaway feel to a place that is 10 minutes from home.
I enjoy meeting folks from other places and hearing why they are in Birmingham. There were folks in the line to get appetizers and they were down for a wedding from Minnesota. They seemed to love Birmingham and their stay at this location.
We had a great evening out to dinner and back to the hotel for a great night. If we can not get out of town and we have a sitter overnight for the children, this is a great place to just relax and remember the days of when we met and fell in love. It's a special place in our hometown that helps us unwind and enjoy each other. The staff were all very kind and it's a place that I recommend when folks come to town.

Room Tip: Top floor is a great view.

We were traveling through Alabama and pleasantly surprised to find we could stay at such a nice hotel with our dog. We had a two room suite. Wish we could have stayed longer to try out Ruth Chris' Steak House.

Frankly, I never expected to go back to this hotel. My previous review was very negative because our stay was a bust. However, due to circumstances beyond my control, and against my instincts, we returned while passing through Birmingham recently.

I reserved two rooms and got exactly what I requested. Once again this year, the hotel was packed, but this year they were ready. The breakfast lay-out was underway two hours before the scheduled opening with coffee out and ready at six AM. HOORAY!!! Cold breakfast selections were out by 7 AM, 30 minutes before the scheduled opening, for the crowd that had already gathered. By 7:15, the mobs had arrived, but the staff responded instead of hiding, and opened early. Food was piping hot and good. Coffee was replenished and supervision was evident. When a womens college basketball team and the coaching staff all arrived together, I thought that this would cause a melt-down, but it didn't. The show went on, and with some reasonable delays, everyone was happy. My omelet was wonderful, and served by a guy who was being overwhelmed with requests but handled it all in stride.

The rooms have been redone with the new ES furnishings and the TV cable services worked very well. Good wireless internet connectivity. The front desk staff was very nice and welcoming.

This place still has its faults, chiefly due to the age of the facility. In the past visit, the faults were exacerbated by the carelessness and poor attitudes of the staff. Not this time. The staff was on its game and was still smiling.

Bravo ES Birmingham on handling the holiday crowd so well this year. I wish you all the best for the new year and will be back to stay.

We reserved a suite for our family of four for a shopping get-away in Birmingham. This hotel was wonderful-the location was only minutes from the Summit, and a short drive from Riverchase Galleria. We could have actually slept 6 in our room, so there was plenty of space to spread out. Two televisions worked out nicely for my husband and the teenagers, and the additional vanity outside the bathroom made getting ready very convenient. The room was fresh and clean.

We took advantage of cocktails at the manager's reception; the bartender was so friendly and accomodating and the snacks were a nice surprise (guacamole, chips, chex mix). We also enjoyed a fabulous meal at Ruth's Chris within the hotel (that place will get its own review :)).

The ONLY downside of this hotel was breakfast. It was served from 6-9. We arrived at 8:30 to find a terribly long line for the omelet station. There was only one other attendant who was working hard to keep the other food replenished but was fighting a losing battle. My daughter and I shared a muffin and had to find breakfast elsewhere as we left the hotel. It's still a wonderful place to stay, but just don't count on the breakfast.
