“Typical concert venue”

Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex

We've been to three events at the BJCC in the last four months. It's the only auditorium in our area, so not much choice. The venue is OK. It always seems to be clean. The staff is terrific. They are all very friendly and helpful. And, the BJCC does get some good acts in! But, even though you get notices telling you to arrive early, the arena is rarely open more than an hour in advance of the start time. So, you hurry to get there, just so you can stand in line with a thousand of your closest friends. Other downside is that there is no or little traffic control when an event lets out, so the parking lots and streets are a free-for-all of drivers who ignore stop lights and pedestrians who ignore "don't walk" signs.

The BJCC gets most of the good shows and events. The spaces are adequate, but the parking is expensive. The best that can be said about the staff I that you don't interact with them much. They are about as helpful as your typical DMV worker.

Narrow concourses and lacking in restroom facilities greet you once you get by the rude and poorly trained staff to get into the facility. Overpriced parking is nearby if you can get to it. the Concessions - the venue ones not the show ones - are overpriced and of very low quality. I purchased a hot dog and apparently it was left over from the earlier performance as it was dried out and cold. I requested a replacement and it was not even warmed. Two ushers did not know how to direct me to my seat. When I rigged this place 14 years ago with a show, I disliked it because of its poor design and access for a major show. Now as a guest, I dislike it even more.

Such a wonderful venue with so much to see nearby. Within walking distance to great hotels and public transit . It also within walking distance of generous parking areas.

The arena for the concert was great. The women's bathrooms suck. Only 6 stalls and the handicapped one was nearly impossible to maneuver in with a wheelchair.
