The park is very well kept and pretty. Vulcan statue overlooks the city of Birmingham, and gives information on the iron industry that made Birmingham grow so fast that it was nicknamed "The Magic City". Very informative, and the grounds are just beautiful. The view is awesome.

I grew up in Birmingham seeing Vulcan often. Now that I have moved away seeing it again after many years, and the upgrades they have made he looks great! A huge giant stature of Vulcan, overlooking Birmingham Alabama. Go to the top and look. What a view!

This is a neat little park, and the history of the Vulcan statue is really interesting - it was made for a World's fair to showcase Birmingham's iron industry, and then lugged back to town and put on top of the mountain, where it became a popular picnic and tourist destination.

There is a museum up there too, but it was closed on Sunday morning when we went.

Birmingham was based on Steel Production for many years. The Vulcan Park is a great place to see the city's history as you walk through the exhibits or just come to walk around to enjoy the landscaped park. Even Birmingham locals consistently learn something about Birmingham's industrial history every time. Nice breeze on top of Red Mountain most days makes this one of the few pleasant outdoor places even in mid-summer in Birmingham.

We found this museum (you can't miss it if you look up on the mountain and see the gigantic statue! There is a wonderful museum in a beautiful park with some hands on displays for children and the statue tower to climb up to, not to mention the unbelievable view of the city below.
