My best friend and I had planned this trip as a celebration. We decided it would be a girl's weekend and we schedule a facial. The treatment was superb! I highly recommend the facial treatment at Ross Bridge. Everything went exactly on schedule and was just a delight.

It's a perfectly fine place, although it's not really my style. The location and setting is far outside the city, pretty much in the middle of nowhere in a brand new master-planned "resort town" community. The streets and houses were very pretty in a very Disney-fied way, although extremely quiet - don't know whether that was a function of the heat or of the economy. Depending on whether you plan to stay on property at the resort for the length of your trip or not (and whether you prefer a vacation that is an escape from reality or one that has some local flavor), you'd probably either love or hate the location.

Our room was very nice: large, new, high-ceilinged, well-furnished, and very clean, with a nice little balcony and a pretty view. The bed and shower were very nice, and the linens were great.

The food on property was pretty good. Service was generally okay - the front desk was fine, as were the bell staff. The hallways could have been checked a bit more often for used room service trays. The business center was not very good.

Yes, there were tons of kids in the pool area, and there often were several going to or from the pool at any point. I didn't really notice them anywhere else on property, though.

This place has it all — golf, spa, gorgeous pool, gym and rolling green hills as far as you can see. You pass through a development of beautifully designed homes and arrive at this hotel that looks like a castle. Inside, it's sumptuous, but in a friendly way. The staff is great and the breakfast buffet is as good as it gets. Rooms are comfy and well appointed and the Aveda amenities are a nice touch. It was very hot when I was there last week and great the way they keep the pool open late after the weather cools down a bit. Even at 10:30 PM, there were lots of people outside enjoying the hot tub, big pool, water slide and the outdoor patios. An absolutely lovely place.

This hotel is such a nice hotel. I most enjoyed the remoteness; the terrace, the spa treatments and most of all the outdoor hot-tub. If you need to get away inside the state or outside of the state, this is the place to stay. There is a waterfall, a waterslide and indoor and outdoor pools. The only downfall is that it is overrun with children so the pool area is very loud and boisterous.

My wife and I stayed at Ross Bridge for an long weekend three weeks ago and found the atmosphere and faclities to be a wonderful departure from other chain lodging experiences. The Spa was well staffed and provided good service; The pool and deck area was plesant and well designed, Brocks Restaurant produced one the best dinners I've ever eaten, prepared by a great chef, and the Front Desk was good and hospitable with the exception of some of the pm staff upon arrival. Overall there was at least one staff member in every dept. (including Housekeeping and Maintainence) who was highly motivated to provide service and hospitality. They made the difference. I have noticed a few comments by others who encountered service problems, and it sounds like they were staying while large groups were present in the hotel. This does tend to stretch staffs thin in areas like the restaurant and overcrowd the pool. You might want to ask if you make a reservation here if they are sold out with a lot of kids present, otherwise it's a nice relaxing European ambiance with, I understand a great golf course.

This hotel is beautiful and very nice rooms. We went with friends for July 4th weekend for golf and pampering at the spa. The first impression at the front desk was acceptable, but that is the only hospitality we received the entire stay. They did not have an adequate number of employees to accommodate the sold out weekend. The service at both resturants was terrible and the staff was rude. Customer service is the hotels downfall. When asked for towels at the pool, we were told they were out. When we requested towels for our rooms, two hours later they were sent up. We will not return to this hotel. They act like they are doing you a favor to allow you to stay there. At $140 for 18 holes and $120 for a massage and then paying $250 per night.........I can get better service at another hotel.

My husband and I stayed at the Renaissance for 5 nights while he was there for a work function. We booked via the 1-800 number, letting them know the group that we were with, and they assured us that the group rate would be applied to our stay. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were assured that the group rate was applied and happily went to our room. We received the check out confirmation on our last day, under our door, and then found that there was confusion as to the special rate we were to receive. The hotel took no responsibility for this mistake, at first, and charged us the regular rate. After several hours of going back and forth, they updated the rate as appropriate. It seemed to us that they may not be use to accommodating large groups and were not experienced in properly serving them.

The rooms are nice and I had two spa treatments, a facial and massage, both were very nice. Room service food was ok, a bit overpriced for the quantity received, even by resort room service standards.

Travelers should note that this hotel is a bit far from Birmingham and any tourist attraction. We were happy to have a rental car for exploring.
