I really like this place you can still feel the energy of the people that would have worked there. A great picture taking location for people who like old black whites or industrial shots. Had a great time. Some areas are closed off for safety but most areas are easily explored.

What a cool place to have any kind of gathering. Lots of history to peruse while you are partying. I walked around with my beer in hand learning about how steal was made...several things Learned.

This is an interesting piece of history with lots of signs telling you what you are seeing. There are also cell phone numbers which give detailed info. The foundry was huge and a dangerous place to work.

A site that I have been to on two separate occasions. A good place to visit in conjunction with the Vulcan Park and Museum. I am personally fascinated with both the history of the "New South" and the steel industry so I enjoyed both of my visits there. However, I have left both times with questions still lingering about the functioning of the steel industry and the process itself which I cannot help but think that better labeling would be of help. There is your standard video and very small museum as you enter, but the rest of the information is placed around the site. They occasionally hold concerts here which I believe would be a good venue for this type of event. Group tours are available at certain hours of the day which I would probably have to take advantage of in future visitst

This is a place of years gone by and one of the keys to Birmingham's history in the iron and steel industry. Located very close to the city center, it's a place to spend a couple of hours and take in a bit of history - and the price is right (free). Check the calendar for local events such a the walking history tour, haunted history tour, local bands, and beerfest.
