“History with a hint of haunted!”
Reviewed May 17, 2013 via mobile

Sloss really is miraculous in the fact it was never demolished and the industrial history of Birmingham, Al was preserved.
My teen daughters think its haunted and the TV press only helps ones imagination but maybe it really is.

“Visit this after Vulcan Park”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

After visiting Vulcan Park, and getting some background info on the Birmingham Iron production, visit this area to actually see the machinery and steps in making iron products.

“Interesting visit”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

We were impressed by the size of the equipment. It was interesting to see how iron was made. We were there while a wedding party was going on, so that restricted where you could go slightly. We did not go on a guided tour, and we found the self-guided tour instructions were not always easy to follow, since things were not always well marked along the way.

“True History”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

Birmingham is a steel town. Here you can walk through and look through one of the few remaining steel factories of yesterday.
It is history come alive. It is clean and pleasant to look around
and to relive the history there.

“A Birmingham Landmark”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

Sloss Furnaces lets a visitor take a look back at America's industrial heritage. Admission is free to the site and a map at the gift shop lets a person take a self-guided tour through the property. The tour is arranged so that visitors are taken through the process which was used to take raw materials and make them into solid iron: it's as if the visitor is following the process of iron-making chronologically. The site has numerous plaques posted along the tour route to supplement the basic information provided in the brochure. The staff is quite friendly and helpful. Also, for those interested in the paranormal, the site supposedly sports its own resident ghost. A piece of history well worth seeing.
