Great service, excellent food. French food in Birmingham. Try the chocolate pot de creme. Watch out for the busy weekend nights. It is quite small, and the wait can be a while.

When you go to Chez Fonfon it is transformative. As you step through the door you step into a Paris bistro. It's acceptably noisy, busy and so much fun. Well appointed with white table cloth. They have an excellent wine list and if you are unsure the waitstaff are remarkably knowledgeable about the wine and the food. It is unpretentious yet sophisticated. People are in suits, jeans and everything in between. The food is simple but exquisite. Some of my favorites are the escargot as a starter then the moules et frites, crab cakes (plat du jour so Thursdays only for crab cakes), braised short ribs with oxtail, hanger steak and their hamburger is hard to beat too. Very reasonably priced considering what you are getting. We celebrate everyone's birthday there- it's that special. Ask for Marco and, if you are lucky, you might get him but all of their waitstaff are excellent.

I ate at this property this afternoon, as a scouting trip for my church group. The food was outstanding. I had the trout ($18.75), which was recommended by the server and previous Tripadvisor reviews. I had the HBG chardonnay ($8.00) with the meal. I had the coconut cake for dessert ($8.25), with a desset wine (Moscato - $6.00). This is a sister property to Highlands Bar and Grill and Bottega. This property is located on 5 Points Southside, adjacent to Highlands Bar and Grill. There is on-street parking and valet parking. This is a French-themed restaurant. The tab was $55.00.

Dined at Chez Fon Fon last night. Had to wait about an hour for a table as it was Friday night and no reservations accepted. Sat at the bar which was nice and attentive service.
All of our food was wonderful..hamburger or daily fish special. Sauce on the fish was excellant. Getting to order took a little time but got our food quickly. Service was attentive. Wine list was suprisingly inexpensive. Space was loud but the restaurant was completely full.

Have now gone to all three Stitt restaurants in Bham and this was the best followed by Highlands.

Sliders and Ham & cheese. As pictured. This place is always good. Lunch or dinner. One of Southside's best.
