Owner description: This historic museum traces the journey of the civil rights advocates of the 1950s and 60s, who changed the course of American history. The struggle for equality for Black Americans is chronicled here, from the Jim Crow laws in the 1800s to the freedom rides, sit-ins and demonstrations of the 1960s.

The layout is excellent - walks you through each year with exhibits, pictures, videos and a timeline as reference. Like that fact that continues into the present day with references to other parts of world still struggling with Civil Right issues.
Staff very friendly and added to the experience with their personal stories

very informative and well done. It captured the history of the civil rights movement through the years and how it continues. Free on Sundays.

This Institute should be a must see for any American regardless of age. The Church where four innocent girls died in a bomb blast is right across the street as is the park where youth were hit with fire hoses and attacked viciously by police dogs. It was a sad reminder but so important for us to remember. Let us never go to that page of history again!

This museum ranks in the top 5 with the Civil Rights movement. There are some very moving exhibits that will bring you to tears and also fill you with hope.
