Owner description: This historic museum traces the journey of the civil rights advocates of the 1950s and 60s, who changed the course of American history. The struggle for equality for Black Americans is chronicled here, from the Jim Crow laws in the 1800s to the freedom rides, sit-ins and demonstrations of the 1960s.

Well curated museum with excellent exhibits. Make sure to listen to parents explaining things to their children. It's quite moving.

Great museum. Pay attention to the initial video, it's quite impartial and shows a little bit about the history of the afro-americans in Birmingham.

Has lots of informaiton and actual footage of an era goneby. It really gives an up close and personal account of what took place.

A well organised, friendly and well-run museum. Take some time to look at the sculptures in the park opposite and then put aside a couple of hours for the museum itself. Excellent introductory film, and very well-presented exhibits. Make the detour!
