Great museum but hard to get a taxi from there. You need to walk a kilometre up the road to the main road to hail a taxi from there

We spent a half day in here before catching a bullet train to our next destination.
The building seems brand new with sparkling new cabinets and marbellous floors.
Plenty of old artifacts in cabinets with a small amount of explanation in English.
Whilst there were a few videos in Mandarin only, there was generally no information linking the whole thing together so each item in each cabinet stood alone. That said, we probably could have spent the whole day in there if we had had the time.

During our visit to the museum, we focused on a special exhibit on the Silk Road, and so cannot comment on the entire collection. But what we saw was very impressive, and for the most part well designed and displayed. However, we were disappointed that the English message that was carved into a stone wall at the entrance to the gallery was in fractured English, which seems avoidable in the 21st century. Other English signage often was poorly translated, as well. The artifacts were beautiful, and despite this one disappointment, the museum is worth a visit.

If you're interested in Chinese porcelain, and in Sancai works, especially, this newer museum is the place to go. Large, well-laid out, and informative, plus the English captions are not as spare as in other Chinese museums, altho they could be longer and more detailed.

We spent approximately 2-3 hours carefully studying the exhibits. Like every museum, everywhere, no flash photos are allowed. In fact, there are "No Photo" signs everywhere, but we saw people taking photos with cell phones nonetheless.

We thought this museum actually had as good, if not better, examples of Sancai works than the National Museum in Beijing.

This modern new museum is out of the main town area, but a short taxi ride (cheap). It is huge and we spent a couple of hours looking through all rooms. We visited in winter off-season, so there were few visitors.
Most exhibits have English titles and storyboards, and all are interesting. Many seem to have been discovered in nearby districts. The glazed pottery horses and camels are spectacular.
Although there were "No Photos" signs everywhere, this was to be ignored by most visitors and attendants didn't seem to care.
There were a few stall-holders nearby for basic drinks etc.
At the end, we were able to get a taxi waiting at the stalls, but the attendant said it may be nesessary to walk a few hundred metres to the main roads.
