Can see that the place has alot of fascinating history and significance by being the first Buddhist temple in China. However, it is recommended to read up about the temple first before you visit or hire a tour guide otherwise the trip might not be as fruitful. A very informative exhibition at one of the halls will give you more information about the temple and do visit the Indian and Thailand Buddhist temples.

This is very well kept secret ... the temple is the very 1st buddhist temple of ancient China and the very 1st monks were from India.

Beautiful gardens and architecture. Interesting section with temples from other parts of the world. if you are a fan of the TV series Monkey you must visit as it is where Tripitaka began his journey.

The White Horse Temple is not so bad. The Hall of the Heavenly Kings is impressive with a smiling buddha and four gigantic kings. The history is also interesting, involving two Indian buddhist monks arriving on white horses and providing the first Chinese language Buddhist sutra. The temple is historically important since it was the first officially sanctioned Buddhist temple in China and it is still being used today by monks and adherents.

The bus 56 to get here from Luoyang train station is an absolute horror show though. It is hard to find (it starts south of the train station on Jinguyuan Lu not one of the bus lots on Daonan Lu). It is jam packed. And it makes upwards of 20 stops so it's not exactly an express bus. Avoid it if you can!

We were disappointed as citizens were climbing on the so called 1000 years old white horse stone.
