From Luoyang Bullet train station, we walked down Chang Xing street, which is about 10km stretch. About 200m from the station, at the junction of Chang Xing and YiLuo streets, there’s a row of low rise buildings with restaurants, shops and boutique hostels or Hotels. Buling hostel is there.

Take bus 77 or 76 down this Chang Xing street we can find shopping Malls, office buildings, eateries and residential housing. It’s supposedly an up and coming real estate.

The hostel owner (and staff) is very hospitable. He provides free Americano coffee, Chinese tea bags, tidbits and bottles of mineral water. To certain extent, we felt embarrassed with these gifts.

Some individual customers walk in requesting rooms without reservations. Usually such single rooms have no windows. Our room faces The Central courtyard of the residential buildings. As it’s a 2nd level room, we lack some privacy. Our curtains are drawn open when we are properly dressed.

Wifi signals are weak in our room. The owner provided us the room passcode instead of relying on the single room card. We usually gather in the comfortable reception lounge area to surf via wifi.

For breakfast, we usually seek the Guangdong style cafe where they serve ‘Chee Cheong fun”, fried rice and century egg porridge. Oddly, they don’t provide soya sauce for our porridge.

For dinner, we pop over the next door shop for “dan dan noodles”. I really ain’t fond of those mala spicy noodles. The wait for meals to be served can be fairly long.

At the bus station or the bus stop near the hostel, we can grab buses into the city or various attractions. Get hold small notes of CNY1, for your bus fares. The buses are clean and fairly new. If you get lost, at any bus stop pick buses that bring you to the Luoyang bus interchange or any familiar known spots. Or walk around with mobile maps till you find bus stop that has your bus route. The city ain’t that big.

Shampoo and shower gels can be limited especially if you enjoy evening and morning hot showers.

The food stalls near the hostel close fairly early. If you expect to be late back in the hostel, it’s preferable you eat elsewhere in the city.

The hostel owner is also a trained tour guide. He’s very knowledgeable on the local attractions.

Unlike most hotels, we are given access to movies, animes and drama series in our room.

This hostel lived up to the good reviews it has, The location is 5 mins easy walk from the railway station and it is well positioned to go to the sights esp the Longmen Grottoes. Nearby are many restaurants and cheap eateries, The propeerty has no food but does offer coffee and drinks plus a beer fridge with Chinese and imported beers.
David was excellent and so helpful with organising an all-day taxi plus answers to questions and extra advice.
You can hangout in comfort in the downstairs lounges or a large table area.
The room was good, great bed, nice view across the street. The bathroom is modern, large and functional. Everything worked well including the wifi, air-con and lighting.
A nicy cosy ambience in general

· As is common in China, having a shower causes most of the bathroom floor to get wet. They do provide shower shoes and room slippers but not a floormat.
The street outside is fairly typically noisy at times, not from traffic but from nosiy people. The rooms are pretty soundproof to each other however.

Room tip: No elevator but staircase is wide and easy. If you are not so good with stairs choose the 2nd floor
