This hotel is nearly perfect. The food is basically farm-to-table, and really celebrates the local farms, culture, and recipes. There's also the option of western food, and the quality of it is great too. Views of the Yulong River are just gorgeous, and there are plenty of activities based around the river and the nearby town of Yangshuo.

The only "but" is the room itself. While the accommodation is wonderful, the cleaning staff simply don't do much. They make one bed, not both. They throw a pillow in the general direction of the bed. Any gentle queries as to "Are you finished cleaning the room; can we return now?" are met with surly silent glares. The rest of the staff are as wonderful as could be, and it's tough to fault someone whose job it is to clean your toilet. But still, this is a review, and such it is that the cleanliness of the rooms could be improved upon.

Room Tip: Don't as for a "family room" expecting a larger room. It simply has an extra bed, which may or may not be useful if you would rather have the space than the extra bed.

4、 This place is located on the Yulong River. You can watch the bamboo rafts go by and go over one of the many weirs along this river. The Mountain retreat is great. I had a room on the second floor, 208. It has magnificent views with privacy.

I enjoyed my short 2 day stay here and I rented one of their bikes on the second day and road through the countryside with my guide. This was just a fabulous experience and I felt very safe the whole time. We set off early and were the only ones on the road to begin with. Then the electric scooters and motorbikes came. By 10.30 the rest of the tourists had woken up and were riding bikes all over the place, some very dangerously. It was agreat experience the meals were great as was their breakfast.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are quieter

Arrived here late at night after a long trip from Canada via Beijing and Nanjing. Woke up to the most peaceful, idyllic view from our room possible... a gently flowing river, backdropped by the Karst mountains and bamboo rafts being polled down the river as they have been for hundreds of generations. Pure bliss.

This hotel excels in location, service, food, rooms, views and proximity to numerous local things to see and do. After 4 days, our positive impressions only increased with each day.

Stay here. You will not be disappointed.

Another excellent find thanks to the good folks on TA. We booked the king size room with the river views - we were not disappointed! The receptionists (particually Sally and Jessica) were extremely helpful in helping us decide on our day trips. On the first day our river cruise was cancelled due to high water levels and Jessica went out of her way to organise a taxi trip so we could see the area by car.
The food was excellent and as the hotel was located out of town we ate there on all 3 nights. It was lovely to eat our meals by the river watching the rafts go by.
My hubby left his beloved well travelled hat in the back of the taxi that dropped us off at the station so we must say a big thank you to the members of staff who arranged for the taxi company to drop the hat back off at the hotel and arranged a guest from the UK to take it home with them and post it to us.
A lovely hotel with excellent staff.

The staff, service, food, and accommodations at this serene location made for a completely relaxing few days at the end of our China trip. The location is ideal for bike rides around the countryside and yet is close enough to make travel into Yangshuo a breeze.

The staff greeted us warmly at check-in and escorted us to our standard river view room, which was nice but incredibly small for two adults and our two packs (one side of the bed was almost on top of the tiny bathroom). Fortunately, the desk staff were able to move us to a larger mountain view room (room# 201A) with private balcony featuring gorgeous views. The room was well kept with updated bathroom fixtures, air conditioning/heat, plenty of hot water, and space for our packs. We couldn’t have been more pleased and considered the extra cost well worth it.

The retreat includes a full restaurant on site featuring a wide range of tasty dishes that are reasonably priced, which is good since you are not near many other options. For breakfast, 40 yuan buys you yogurt/muesli, toast, 2 eggs, coffee/tea and juice. You can also spend less but we found this to be a great bargain – also try their ginger tea; it’s amazing!

Throughout our stay the entire staff proved to be incredibly friendly and helpful. They arranged transportation for us into town and gave us a business card that included written instructions for our taxi driver on the return trip. For 30 yuan the retreat also rented bicycles for the day – an investment that was well worth the experience!
