1000 years old Banyan tree, inspiring and beautiful but they ruined it with an ugly fence! it seems there was a paradise in this place a long ago...

“Excellent”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

It is worth looking at this tree with its history and legend. This is supposedly the place where some films took place - famous Liu San Jie was filmed here! It is amazing to see how old this tree actually is.

“Just a big tree”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Other than the lovely old banyan tree, there was nothing in the park to enjoy. Well, there was one thing. Across the small pond, there is a giant rock with a huge hole in it. It's enormous! But that's about it. Luckily, the entrance fee for the park is minimal.

“A 1400 years old living sentinel”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

The Big Banyan Tree Park may not appeal to all but it is not everyday that one has the opportunity of ‘catching up’ with a 1400-year-old (going by the official information) living tree that is still growing, healthy and strong. The girth of the tree is 7 meters, the height 17 meters and covers an area of more than 100 sq. meters- quite impressive statistics. The tree is a live biology lesson on the growth and propagation of a banyan tree, with numerous aerial prop roots that have grown into thick woody trunks which, with age, have become nearly indistinguishable from the main trunk. In addition to the tree, the park hosts some lotus ponds (very colorful) and a rock museum. A river also flows through, providing the opportunity to take a ride on a bamboo raft for those who have more time on hand. The area is in general is green, lush and very pretty. Apparently the tree and the surrounds have featured in some Chinese movies. Located about 7 kilometers from Yangshuo town, the park does offer a convenient break on the way while biking to the popular destination of Half-Moon Hill.

“Waste of time”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

Just a big tree. Yep. My 3-year old son loved it. We were not impressed. The sellers haggled us more than anywhere else in Yangshuo. The rock museum inside made the park for us. Otherwise, there is much better places to spend your time.
