This hostel was perfect during our stay in Yangshuo. The place is quite difficult to find, but we managed to call the staff to help us find our way there. It is centrally located, and close to pretty much every main street in Yangshuo. The staff is very friendly and resourceful, and gave us great advice on what to see/do in Yangshuo. It might seem dodgy at first, as you have to make your way up two grungy floors, but once you arrive at Green Forest Hostel, you will love the bright, eco-friendly, airy reception area. The atmosphere is what I loved about this place. There is a nice area where travellers can meet, along with a great rooftop garden that overlooks Yangshuo. They also have a great food menu...Great cocktails and refreshing drinks too! The rooms were excellent. Clean, bright, simple, lots of open space and natural light. We booked a private room on the fifth floor, and had no complaints. There was a nice rooftop window, comfy and clean linens, complimentary tea, clean bathroom, and a nice spacious shower. At first the AC was not functioning properly, but we got it up and running with the help of the kind staff. Lastly, we felt very safe in the hostel, and windows are securely barred in the rooms. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone travelling to Yangshuo, and I will definitely come back :-)

Yangshuo is another backpacker paradise. A place to chill out and take in some beautiful scenery, day or night. Green Forest Hostel beautifully compliments that with a warm communal atmosphere.

Location:
Right in the centre of where you need to be. Walking distance from the bus stop, shops, bars, and as many tall pointy hilly things as you can shake a stick at. The DongBei Dumpling shop right outside is a good place to stop and eat.

Setting:
The hostel takes up a squiggly set of buildings that run around the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors. The reception doubles as a common room/dining room, with games, tv, books etc along the wall next to tables and benches. Plenty of light comes in across the rooftop patio too.

Bar:
Cheap beer and snicker bars etc

Staff:
So laid back they were lying down. The atmosphere during our time there was one of a functioning home on a grand scale. They shared food with us and us with them, we chatted long into the night. Having a slight issue with our tickets to Shanghai, one fantastic member of staff waited until 7am to buy our tickets for us so we could definitely set off that day.
At the same time, staff were also polite and cracked on with their jobs too.

Facilities:
Free Washing! Big Lockers in the dorm rooms were very handy. Books/Games in the common room, TV/Nintendo Wii was good fun, though the staff nabbed it a lot of the time. Wifi everywhere was good.

Overall:
Pros - centrally located, great atmosphere and efficiently run
Cons - The skylight had a slight drip.
I'd love to go back and say hello to everyone

You've got to climb a couple flights of stairs with the ripe smell of dirty toilets -- but once you get into the hostel it becomes a much nicer world. My private room was lovely and the staff was helpful, and everything was very clean. There are thermoses with hot water provided for the rooms, a nice touch.

....forget about the entrance of this very cosy and stylish place with modern rooms with wood and good light and a nice public area for drinking coffe and hanging arround with a perfect view up to the mountains. The only downer is the entrance above an public chinese toilett. This is maybe the worstest palce ever for such a nice hostel ! But when you´re in you will love it.
