“The Best!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2013

We stayed for 5 nights at the Tea Cozy and loved it. We stayed on the 5th floor and we had a great view of the full Mid-Autumn moon rising over the karst peaks. The staff there is outstanding - friendly and helpful. For example, my wife was not feeling well one morning so they brought her a complementary pot of ginger tea (which helped). The staff can arrange anything one might want to do in the area - shows, cooking classes, bicycles rides, kayak trips - you name it. My favorite activity was an early morning Tai Chi class at the local school about a mile down the road. The walk was a treat, as well. We ate nearly all of our meals at Tea Cozy. They have a fine menu of local dishes. For breakfast we had a choice of a Western or a local, Chinese breakfast (tasty noodle soup).

Tea Cozy was a highlight of our 3-week trip. It was really nice to be out of the city for a while.

Room Tip: I like the rooms on the back of the hotel. They do not have an elevator, so be prepared to get your...

Dear Robert, Thanks for taking the time to share your experience of your stay here, actually you should stay a bit longer as if you would like to do and to see some more. Besides Taichi and the places that you have visited, we still have many more other suggestions for your next visit.

All the best, Curry and the whole team

The staff totally make this place. While very pretty with nice rooms, we were at first a bit disappointed that were didn't book somewhere with river views and closer to town. This soon was cancelled out by the amazing staff (especially Curry and Amy) who just made everything so effortless for us. They organised everything for us from shows to bikes to bamboo rafting (where they had someone take the bikes and meet us with them later) to a Li river cruise and more. After a night in the town (which was sort of an obnoxious place but worth it for the spectacle at least once) we ate in the hotel and the food was delicious. Do not miss the chef special fried peppers with beef!

On behalf of Amy and the whole team, thank you very much for your sincere review and kind words towards to our hotel and service. And thanks again for your recommendation about the special beef to the future guests. Actually I 'm from Sichuan province and my partner, Richard is from Hunan province which both are famous for our spicy food. Next time i would like to have you try some more Sichuan style ones. Look forward to seeing you again one day.

Located about two miles outside Yangshuo on a country lane, Tea Cozy is the ideal place from which to explore the Yulong Valley, arguably the most beautiful place around Yangshuo. The attention to architectural detail is extraordinary; passersby often stop to photograph the building. The view from our fourth floor balcony was stunning.

The meals were healthy, delicious and reasonably priced. Our four night stay included free use of bicycles, an airport transfer and a tea ceremony that put us off weak, bitter bag tea forever, but it was the service which made Tea Cozy special for us.

One of the owners, Curry, arranged our boat trip to Yangshuo down the Li River from Guilin, even though we were staying elsewhere in Yangshuo for three days before moving to Tea Cozy. Then he sent a car to pick us up. When one of my husband's crowns popped off, Curry sent him to his own personal dentist on an hour's notice, then translated via cell phone on his way back from Guilin on business. The staff, was equally attentive and well trained.

Tea Cozy was a bit of a stretch for our budget, but we'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: For the best views, get a balcony room at the front of the hotel on one of the upper floors.

This is a beautiful hotel, the staff are fantastic, very friendly and helpful. The food is terrific. The only place in China to give you real orange juice with breakfast (hooray).
But.
The bathroom is dark. Very stylish but you need to see yourself in the mirror. And you need somewhere to put everything in the bathroom, there is no shelf space. The external door to the balcony banged all night (until I figured there was an external door at 2am) which didn't help my sleep. There aren't enough power points, so where you you plug in the (supplied) insect repellent gadget?
Practical things that Holiday Inn gets right 24/7 are not quite there.

But if you are looking for a very stylish boutique hotel with welcoming staff and great food this is for you. It just doesn't quite get the 5/5 score.

Dear Bob,
Thanks very much for stay at our hotel, and thanks very much for your good advice, we will put more light at bath room later on, and we will try to add shelf space at both room. The balcony external door you should lock it than will not bang from the wind, on the door have a small lock. we do have enough power points at near night table, bath room, and uder the TV place. We will make new renovation in this Dce and Jan between to make it more better, hope can see your next visit, we are sure no these problem.
Best regards and have a nice trip in China.

Just back from a month on the Silk Road and finished holiday with 3 days at Tea Cozy in Yangshuo...what a little piece of paradise. The gorgeous scenery from airport to hotel was great but as we pulled up outside the hotel we were blown away....what an enchanting little building, five stories rich with antiques, interesting garden complete with babbling brook and arched bridges. The rooms were spacious and beds extremely comfortable. Food from restaurant was excellent. Richard and Curry and staff were warm and very friendly and seemed to have thought of everything to make our stay very special and were very helpful in suggesting things to do...nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful scenery, hotel set amongst the rice paddies and farmland, bike riding around the paddies and bamboo rafting along the river great things to do.

Room Tip: five stories..stairs... no lift so take light luggage. Five stories...stairs ..no lift. Lovely...

we stayed here last October a family of 5 with three young children, we had a 5 day trip let by Richard and his brother in law George including 4 nights at the Tea Cozy and another night at the rice terraces. the entire trip was GREAT!
first the hotel is a small family type hotel, very friendly staff, a special atmosphere, great food, peaceful location, just great, we had a rear large family room divided to two bedrooms with large beds and a long balcony overlooking the special Guilin hills, the only bad thing was the rooster every day at 4 am....
we also took a trip all over, biking, hiking, various types of boats, rafts, kayaks. night show, cormorant fishing, stalagmite caves, moon hill, local markets, this is a special area in China and we just enjoyed every minute.
Richard and his staff were sensitive to our needs, very flexible and responsible. It was so good I am sending my parents there tomorrow for 5 days with Richard.
Enjoy!

Room Tip: rear family room with balcony

My family and I spent 4 days at the Tea Cozy this past July. The first thing that I noticed was that even though we arrived late at night, one of the employees literally "ran" out to help us with our bags. The staff are incredible. They are warm and genuine and go way beyond any expectations to make you feel comfortable. They greeted you with smiles and effective service at any time of day. The hotel has been decorated with the highest attention to detail and beauty. (even the sinks are unique!) Each view from the front patio to the terrace is breath taking. I have to follow at strict diet and was helped to find nutritious and delicious things to satisfy my desires. The organic vegetables were amazing!!!!! We could watch them bring them in each day to the kitchen. You can't get fresher than that!!! Last of all, Richard, one of the owners was a memorable host. He made my children feel "special" with the relationship that he established with them right away. As a tour guide, he created unique situations for us to make our trip unforgettable. From finding restaurants that could satisfy my strange diet concerns and honour the kids yearning for western food, to a trip to the hospital to see an Ophthalmologist, to an authentic trip to the market and village "cooking class" to a visit to a school that we are going to help build a wall around. The trip was so inspirational. We will never forget it and hope to return again. I

Room Tip: I checked out a few and they are all unique and beautiful in their own way.
