We stayed 4 nights at Tea Cozy from 29 Apr 2013. This was the first time my siblings and I took our 70+ years old parents for a holiday. As the organiser of this trip, I was in contact with Richard in March to seek advice about itinerary and tours. We became almost like pen pals as I had lots of questions and Richard replied almost immediately each time. Richard outlined a detailed itinerary for me and though I have to pay a lot more I was happy to do so because we required a personalised service. If only we can give more than the 5 stars here - it was an exceptionally wonderful experience for 5 of us. Richard and Curry are the utmost wonderful hosts and they paid attention to small details. Curry got us the best seats for the Impression Show and he was very mindful of our needs, making sure we got our exclusive treatment. We could not fault the high quality customer service. We love the location, the room and the food there.
Our driver and guide Xiao Yuan is almost like our family member by the end of the trip. He is a very skilled driver and a fantastic photographer. Xiao Yuan is very hardworking, driving us around at least 8 hours a day for 6 days ( we had Xiao Yuan too when we were at Shangrila Hotel in Guilin). He caught a cold at the end of our trip because he gave us his umbrella and he was in and out in the rain constantly. We really appreciated his dedication and highly recommend him.
We spent the last 3 nights at the Shangrila Hotel in Guilin. Of course, we all started comparing everything to Tea Cozy and well, Tea Cozy came tops in everything for all of us. Thank you Richard and Curry. You and your staff have made our holidays in Yangshuo and Guilin with good memories. I arrived home last night and I have already told my husband my next trip to Guilin we have to stay in Tea Cozy.

This has been the most difficult review for me to write. The problem has less to do with the Tea Cozy itself and more to do with my expectations. Because the Tea Cozy is rated No1 in it’s category I had really high expectations. Too high, because I was disappointed. The hotel is quite charming but it did not ‘Wow’ me as I had expected.
Our room was very comfortably appointed and the bathroom and fittings were more than satisfactory. The location was also ideal for us because we prefer to be away from the maddening crowd.
The staff were efficient, very helpful and spoke English well. I can highly recommend the restaurant; the menu is outstanding for western tastes and the food lives up to the expectations. The crispy duck was certainly one of our favourites. During rainy weather you may have to wait for a table though as the indoor dining room is a bit small.
I have come to the conclusion that by Chinese standards this hotel is outstanding and you cannot go wrong, it deserves its number one position. Our stay was quite pleasant, but not remarkable.

Stayed 2 nights at the Tea Cozy at the end of February. Had one very heavy large suitcase which Curry carried to the 5th floor to the room I had specified. Sorry Curry. He was so pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were the same, just so helpful. The food we had was very good and we were given sticky rice balls when we returned from the lantern festival on the last night of the Chinese New Year celebrations, a delightful custom. Bed was soft, bathroom was western. The room was quite large with plenty of space for suitcases, maybe it was a little dark. The balcony gave us a pleasant place of our own to sit with a great view over the crops. The hotel is in the countryside and is in a spot that is safe and interesting to wander around and photograph. We met some of the other guests on the front verandah where you could have a meal if you wanted. Very relaxed place, clean and easy to recommend. Would choose to stay there again.

Dear Barbara, thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience of staying at our hotel. Since I used to be a Kungfu man that to carry your heavy suitcase to the 5th floor was a piece of cake, and for you I bet you must enjoy the exercise of walking up to your room and the great view from both inside the room and the balcony, didn't you? Thanks again for your honest review towards to our hotel facilities and the food at the restaurant. We are all very glad that you have enjoyed your time at Tea Cozy, would really appreciate if you could recommend us to the others. And we look forward to your next visit.

Best regards,
The whole team of Yangshuo Tea Cozy

We stayed at Teacozy this past weekend for three nights and can not fault one thing. It's one of these places we will keep on going back to. The design is well thought out, food is yummy and service could not be any better. The surrounding area is breathtakingly beautiful and worth exploring. Richard and Curry know the area inside out so we went with their recommendations of places to see off the beaten track. Thanks again to TeaCozy for making our weekend truly special!

We had planned 3 nights in this wonderful small hotel. Our plans changed and we were thrilled to be able to stay for 5 nights. The rooms, beds and bathrooms were up to Western standards and very comfortable. The restaurant was great - lots of choices and flexibility. It was a treat to have pizza with good cheese and excellent Chinese food make with their own vegetables. The highlight of the stay was the staff. What an opportunity for the local young men and women to work in this hotel. We enjoyed them so much that we wanted to take them home. We wish Richard and Curry the best of luck in growing their business. The hotel is on a slightly busy road but this did not affect our sleep at all-rather it attracted a variety of travelers to the restaurant.

We traveled for 2 and a half weeks in China, and The Tea Cozy Hotel was undoubtedly the best place we stayed in. There was an immediate welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. The room was beautifully appointed, and everything worked (which is not a given in our experience of Chinese accomodation). We experienced a Chinese Tea Ceremony, as well as cormorant fishing, and toured the area on scooters...great fun.The food was of a consistently high standard, and we also enjoyed a cooking course during our stay. Richard, Jessica and their team provide a very friendly service and I have no hesitation in recommending The Tea Cozy Hotel.

My wife and I travelled to Yangshuo from Beijing. Airport pick up was smooth and the 1.5 hr ride was a scenic tour appetizer ! The hotel is isolated in a good way quiet and right in the middle of the mountains. The Tea Cozy (TC) has a great restaurant, we recommend the sizzling beef and fried eggplant dishes. We hopped on the hotel bikes and with map and directions we toured the area. It was great to ride beside the mountains and along the river. Moon hill and the tea plantation were our favorite stops. Be prepared for the 800 steps to Moon hill ! It rained one day so we took the cooking class which was a lot of fun until I got sick. You need to be very careful with cutting raw meats. The only negative point of my trip which I'm still paying for right now. Besides the cooking class which is not connected to TC I recommend this hotel very rustic with lots of service.

Room Tip: There is NO elevator at TC ......so you decide on value of view from room and how many steps you wan...
