“Exploring Yangshuo County, China”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

In 2006, we visited Guilin a beautiful city with lovely rivers and lakes. The night cruise was very relaxing with colourful lights highlighting the different bridges we passed by and continuing on to wonderful spectacular views of temples and lighted rock formations along the way. In 2009 we returned again, this time driving through Yangshuo County. We visited Li River, Gudong and here the serenity of the landscape was so relaxing. We took a river cruise into caves and we walked along the landscape to finally take a flying fox ride to the bottom of the mountain. We continued to drive through the region and we passed a place called Xanadu. In this area we visited an old Chinese Village which was a tourist attraction. In the evening we stayed in the main township where we walked along West Street. I found this night market to be one of the most characteristic night markets and especially the workmanship of the crafts were excellent. The restaurants and streets were alive with many people which added to the atmosphere of experiencing the Chinese way of life. I found Yangshuo to be very mystical and magical experience overall and travelling with our close Chinese friends made the trip very enjoyable and personalised to really experience the Chinese culture in every aspect.

A long slow climb to the top, not so easy for the older amongst us but still doable if you take your time. Well worth the effort when you reach the top and take in the panoramic views.

“A journey of light hearted disbelief”
Reviewed November 27, 2011

It was truly entertaining to see thousands of people packed into a river of people flowing back and forth down a street displaying an endless redundant supply of Chinese world distributed tourist geegaws. On the side streets restaurants and bars offered good enough food & a comfortable people watching opportunity.

Knowing that a Yulong bike ride amongst karst peak majesty made ONE West Street stroll a fun diversion.
