This is where it all happens and there are shops and more shops and food places that seel some weird things and hence it is interesting. It has however lost its old Chinese character which could be quite something with the rugged mountain back drop. Definitely a must place to see but expect may tourists and lots of activity and glitz.

West Street is very busy, very touristy, but somehow still interesting and exciting. The setting is magnificent and you can see why so many western visitors have settled here. But if you are looking for authentic China this is not it, it was once but now it is a place aimed at Chinese and foreign tourists. Its busy in the day but at night this place really comes alive, with the bright lights, throngs of people everywhere and non stop noise.

1/2 mile long street pedestrian mall of attractive shops displaying regional food, clothing and crafts. Geared to the semi-affluent and affluent Chinese and global tourist. Best restaurants are found elsewhere but West Street does have 2 food courts filled with local specialties including multiple type of tofu, noodles, dumplings, fried crickets etc.

Came here every night after day tours for 5 nights. If you are tired of Chinese food, you can find Western, Indian and Asian cuisines here. Street foods are cheap and tasty. Many t-shirt printing stalls here to print your favourite photo. And massage places too. It can be very noisy depending on which street you are in. Many souvenir shops selling pastries and cultural items.

Broad variety of restaurants and bars. Many many shops of all kind, a lot of them with real handcrafted offerings. Worth to look, to shop, to bargain, to have fun

This is very touristy but a lot of fun to walk around at night. There are market stalls and many shops and restaurants. The whole area is lit up nicely and very colorful....walk to the end for nice views of the mountain and little lakes and bridges etc. good choices for shopping and food.....something to please everyone.

Be sure to get clear instructions where this is. We went the wrong direction on West St for at least 30 mins and wasted that time and energy walking. Very nice shops in this area

West St is a very busy area for tourists. There are lots of shops selling lots of tourist stuff, some cheap, some less so. Food shops of many kinds. Lots of hawkers so be warned. Bargaining is almost mandatory with stall holders.
