“Fun way to travel on the Yulong River”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

Really enjoyed the 2 Bamboo Rafting trips we did. Great way to enjoy the scenery and fun going over the little weirs. We did the river in 2 stretches rather than the whole 4-5 hours in one go. You can arrange through hotel or do this on your own. I think each 1-2 hour stretch costs about 200 Yuan for the bamboo raft but you may be able to get it cheaper on your own.

“Relaxing moments”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

On a tour through China we spend a few hours on a raft and found it refreshing because the days before our shedule was so full that free time was non-existent. The landscape is very beautiful and in the Yulong river there are multiple small rapids. On a few of them we got our bottoms wet but thats part of the expirience. Almost on every rapid we found a "pothografing-raft"; it is possible to buy a picture of yourself made while descending the rapid. Also food & drinks are available, even "barbecue-rafts" are in the water.

“Ok, but a little disappointing”
Reviewed October 7, 2012

This wasn't quite the authentic experience we were looking for. It was pretty expensive (200Y per adult, kids half that) and was really just getting on a bus to go to a village on the river, unloading and joining a queue to get on a raft, watch a cormorant fishing demo (which is pretty amazing), feed a water buffalo and bung the kids on the buffalo's back for a photo, cruise down the river a bit, drop off a 40cm weir for a photo opportunity (which they then try to sell to you) then back on the coach to yangshuo. It was cool to see the dragon bridge (built 1400s I think) but not enough to raise the experience above average.

“Very Fun”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

We did Bamboo rafting on the Li River near Yangshuo. We did not start in Guilin because we were told the Yangshuo part was prettier. It seemed to be much less crowded. There were people on boats trying to sell us beer and pictures that they were taking of us. Each boat had their own driver. The local people were more than willing to spray us with water guns when we went past them. It was pretty funny actually. It seemed like a short ride but it was beautiful and much worth a try. The boats are very stable, even when going over the small water falls. This activity is highly recommended.
