I first see the chinese movie of Liu San Jie almost 30 to 40 years ago. Its about a story of local folks in Guilin coming together to face the invading Japanese occupation of China. It gives a lasting memory and finally I am here to see the first outdoor show performances. However this show have not references to the story so I am quite disappointed.
Its a raining season but the show goes on even with the thunder light appearing creating quite a scary but also a tranquillity experiences. Overall the shows is quite impressive but a bit slow action. However with such a big outdoor stage and so many people performing, it is quite a amazing show with good lighting and natural scenery of river and hills. A must see for first timer to Yangshuo but for me once it is enough. I saw another similar show in Lijiang directed by the same director Zhang Yi Mou. With local folks performing as well as professional, it gives a good differentiation and experiences of the show. Enjoy it!
