We booked a double room for 2 nights as our base camp for Huangshan. It's in the perfect spot for visiting the mountain, we only had to walk 5 minutes to the bus station that takes you up the mountain to the cable car. We only stayed one night since we decided to spend one night on top of the mountain, and for the cheap price we paid it was decent. A bit dirty, very basic, and chilly, but overall worth the roughly $20 usd we paid per night. Very little English is spoken in the hotel, making things a bit difficult, but the girl at the front desk pulled up google translate on her computer and that helped things out.

By far the best thing about the hotel was the restaurant downstairs. Very cheap and very good food!

We paid 178 RMB for a double room. Room was very basic but clean and with enough space. Service is not very efficient but acceptable and with a smile.
Hotel to recommand to spend just the night before climbing Huangshan.

For RMB98 a night, you can't ask for more!
The big room was heated by a small split unit and it was a bit cold at night. There is a evening briefing regarding the climb by the hotel. Do attend. There is no pushing of sales and services. The location of the hotel is superb. Very near the bus station to the mountain. The front desk is able to arrange for my bus ticket to Hangzhou and the bus stopped in front of the hotel to pick me.

The hotel is nice, rooms are clean, low price, nice staff (kindly try to help even though they don't understand English very well).
The hotel is close to the bus station which get you to the yellow moutain (5min walking). Close to the bus station as well where the bus from other cities arrive. You can buy the bus tickets in the hotel to go back to Suzhou, Hangzhou... there is no overprice and the bus would stop in front of the hotel.
The hotel is in the center of the village, many shops and restaurants around.
Great place to stay for two nights with a law budget to visit Huangshan.

I hesitated when I first book the hotel as the room rate is simply out of this world, in fact it's by far the cheapest room that I have ever stayed. However, despite it's jaw dropping room rate the room was pretty decent and comfortable. It has by far exceed my expectation. Moreover, the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, they are more than willing to advise us on the attraction around. If you are planning to make your way to the top of the mountain, make sure you get their advise. Not forgetting there is nice restaurant at the other end of their lobby that serve some nice local dishes at a fairly reasonable price. Location wise it's basically located by at the main street of Tangkou with easy access to convenient shop just across the street, and 5-7 minutes walk to the bus station that transport you to the foot of the mountain. All in all, for the amount that you pay for the hotel is ridiculously value for money. Not that I have traveled around the world but I highly doubt that one can find another hotel that offer such value for their money. It's indeed a great choice for Tangkou.

As with many reviews, the hotel is located within 6-7mins walking distance to the long distance bus station. That bus station is also where you would catch a bus where to the base of the Yellow Mountain entrance, & the cable car. We stayed for 2 nights mid July 2012. Unfortunately the hotel was not as clean as we expected it to be. The room had a bit of a damp smell to it, once you turned the air conditioning, seems to slowly go away. There were some stains on the wall, looked more like mouldy looking stains. When we arrived, the window was opened, & this may have caused some bugs & flies to get in. We stayed on the ground floor, & while we tried to ask to switch rooms, we were not successful. We were told that the hotel was full. The hotel manager told us they would put the electronic bug repellant on, and get rid of the bugs. Room is not spacious.

If you are bunking with someone, it may be a bit awkward sharing even a twin room. The bathroom has a see-through motif of their hotel's logo on their otherwise opaque glass door & wall. If you are close enough, you can peek into the bathroom, and vice versa.

The hotel's restaurant is ok, but there are other restaurants around outside, particularly if you don't mind restaurant touts trying to attract business.

If you stay in this hotel, you will not be able to see sunrise or sunset on the mountain. As far as I was able to gather, the cable cars and buses don't start that early. The staff are decent enough, they try to help as best they can. For example, the long distance bus to Nanjing picked us up from the hotel, where we booked with the hotel. Don't bank on great service, they get distracted easily. They will serve you, & then suddenly, they will serve another patron.

One of the reviews also mentioned about the hotel providing info to the mountain, & that is true. The hotel manager spent almost an hour talking about getting to the mountain, & helping you plan the route. The talk seems to occur around 6:30pm each night.

For about AUD10/night, can't complain about this hotel. If you can forego a bit about the state of the rooms, they are still clean enough.

The hotel is very modern, located close to the city's bus station. Staff was very young and friendly, they seemed like friends having a good time. Just one staff spoke english, but all others were very helpfull, and we sort of managed to communicate reasonably (they try hard to help). The restaurant, downstairs, has very good food. I'd definately recommend this hotel!
