“Nice location, so-so and expensive food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2014

Spent 2 nights at this hotel. It's warm and comfortable. WiFi works fine. Location is nice as well.

What we hate is the food. Not that its expensive, but it tastes terrible. Service is so poor. The food always takes forever to arrive.

Stayed at this hotel for 1 night. This is a 2-3 star hotel on Mt. Huangshan. Rooms are basic but it's okay as it's a brief stop before continuing our hike the next 2 days at Mt. Huangshan. Hot water is sufficient for shower and basic buffet breakfast is available.

No wifi but free wired internet is available.

This hotel is conveniently located just 20-min hike from the famous Guanmingding (which is famous for enjoying the sunrise moment). TIPS: do remember to bring a torch with you when you hike for the sunrise moment; no street lights are around at all.

To see sunsets & sunrises you must overnight. Baiyun (which means White Clouds) is a good option in a great location.

Location: If you are fit, you can walk up to Baiyun from the West side in 5-6 hours including a side trip to Lotus Peak. If you take the cable car, you can get there 2-3 hours. At the Yupinglou cable car station, there are porters who will deliver your luggage to the Hotel but be prepared to pay dearly for this service (200 RMB for a small bag). So pack light!
You are 15 minutes (uphill) from Bright Peak, a great place for sunrise. Take the path to the Xihai tramway and you are 5-10 minutes away from a great place for sunsets. It is also a great starting place to explore the summit trails. For example you can go down to the Xihai canyon that should not be missed and come back up on the new Xihai tramway which brings back right behind the hotel.

Hotel: very expensive but you are paying for the location. No elevator. Rooms are adequate, but nothing fancy. They have individual electric heaters but the common areas like the dining room are not heated in the winter so you must wear your coats while dining. Food which must be delivered by porters is also expensive. For example the buffet breakfast is 68 RMB. We paid 15 RMB for a similar breakfast in Hanzhou. They provide decent down parkas for guest use. They are found in the coat closet in the rooms. A nice touch.

Final thought: you have come all this way to Huangshan. Why not spend the extra 200-300 USD to overnight on the Mountain and get the full experience?

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful in providing advice on how to have a safe walk to enjoy beautiful views of Huangshan. The room we stayed in have views of Huangshan which is perfect for us who wish to have scenic views event when indoors.

A bit overpriced for the quality, but this is what you'll get mid or top mountain (1040 rbm per night). The standard room was pretty small, hard to move around, two single beds. Not much hotel amenities: just soap and two tea bags. Soundproofing is almost non-existent: bring earplugs! With earplugs in, I heard people talking in the next room. The room did provide two warm coats, but make sure you bring toques and gloves during this time of the year, and layer up! Try and get a room in building 2 (100 rbm more) if you can, as they are in the main building, and are newer and better. If you are on a tight budget, still try and get a bunk room (6 per room, shared bathroom) in building 2.

If you want a better price for the room, consider booking through ctrip.com, as they provide better prices. Breakfast (buffet, 68 rmb per person) is pretty awful. Consider buying little snacks at the hotel convenience stores. Dinner is much better: you can get a noodle dish for 78 rmb that easily feeds two, or a veggy or a tofu dish for 49 rmb. Some soups range from 28-38 and can feed two. Portions are decent. Other items are not as bad to buy though pricier: 500ml water for 8rmb for example.

To get up here: take the YuPing cable car from Ci Guang Ge entrance. It is then about an hour hike. You can also take the Yun Gu cable car from the Yun Gu Si entrance but it's further of a hike.

For sunrise and sunset: go to Brightness peak (or called Bright Summit peak), or Turtle peak. Brightness peak is higher. Access to both peaks are right beside the hotel. Bring a flash light especially for sunrise as paths are unlit. Climb to Brightness peak is harder than Turtle peak, especially in the morning when the air is thinner. Train before climbing this mountain!

Room Tip: Try to get a room in building 2 as they are newer and nicer. They are however a bit more costly.

I stayed in the hostel portion of this hotel. The room was definitely crowded because they put 10 beds into a room. By the way if you wanted wifi access you had to goto the hotel lobby. The location was right next to the food court, but prices are really high and make sure to eat early because the place doesn't stay open to the late hours. Oh by the way you will have to put up with people getting up at 3am to dress and see the sunrise. By the way I booked the room thru the koala hostel back in huangshan.

We slept in a bedroom with four berths (8 beds), but the hotel added two more beds and it was imposible to move in it. In the bedroom of my partner was exactly the same.

With so many people in a small room the heat was unbearable, and hygienic conditions were terrible. The noise, the heat and the lack of space made it imposible to sleep for the whole night.

We slept in much better hotel in the summit at the same price.
