“Excellent museum and great for families”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

We went to the museum on the recommendation of friends and from review from Tripvisor. We had a great time and they had great exhibits. We are visiting family on spring break but it was good to take kids for educational purposes.
My only negative is the section with Jewelry from the Andes needed more background description and historic info. I did research years ago on the sympolism of the Mapuche jewelry so was disappointed with such a large collection that there wasn't a lot of info.

“Great museum, highly recommended”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

This museum is a jewel that should be enjoyed by anyone visiting the Colchagua wine region. It guides the visitor from the entrance through the basic tectonic history of our planet, through paleontological displays of fossils, pre-Columbian cultures, with extremely well conserved artifacts and jewelry, on to Chilean history such as the 1879 war with Perú and Bolivia, typical Chilean huaso (cowboy) parafernalia, old horse drawn coaches, historic locomotives and other steam-operated agricultural equipment, and finishes with a well done reproduction of the mine and rescue equipment of the 33 miners trapped underground for many weeks a couple of years ago in norhern Chile.

“Large, epic.”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

I did not know it was so large, but they have this 24 Hour ticket so we come back. Is very fancy and complete.
If you like museums and history come here you'll love it!

A good attraction in the little Santa Cruz.

“An Incredible Museum in a Small Town”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

You need at least 5 hours to do this museum justice. It starts with the pre-history of the area and has wonderful exhibits of the indigenous cultures, the colonial era and the history of Chile over the past 200 years. The ticket you buy is good for 24 hours, so it's a museum you can re-visit and take in small "bites". The philanthropist who donated the museum and the incredible collections to the town hired professionals with great experience to put together the exhibits.
