Viu Manent may make wine but the whole place is set up like a theme park, from the buggy rides to the shop, and somewhere in the middle is the restaurant.
Being in a winery in the Colchagua valley you would expect the surroundings to be beautiful - and they are.
Being a part of the Viu Manent experience you would expect the service to be efficient - and it is in the "my name is Juan, that's John in American, and I'm your waiter today" sort of way.
You might also expect the food to sound better than it tastes - and it does.
My fish was not fresh and my wife's ribs were so overcooked they were dry. The sort of "cooking" you'd expect in a theme park.
Go there as part of your vineyard visit, if you must - it's not unpleasant- but go elsewhere if you want a well-prepared meal cooked as it should be.

We had a lovely lunch here after a guided tour of the Viu Manent winery. We had booked in advance, but being a Monday, need not have bothered.

We sat outside under the trees and looked out across the vine yards to the mountains - a beautiful setting. Service was friendly and professional and the steak I ordered a generous size and well cooked. Wine by the glass is available.

Not only an enjoyable meal, but reasonably priced in a lovely setting - a great way to finish off a fantastic few hours at Viu Manent winery. Do the late morning tour, taste some wines then chill out further and enjoy the lunch!

I know Viu Manent since 2010. They suffered A LOT with the earthquake but... today.... when i go to Santa Cruz, I never miss a lunch there. You can eat under the fig trees or inside in a lovely decoration and the food is fantastic, the wine, for me, one of the best in Chile, especially Malbec gran reserva, Carmenere grand reserva and pinot noir secreto. People are very nice and very friendly. Don't hesitate, I am sure you will be happy and addicted as I am. I am going quite often a Santa Cruz with friends and family visiting and they are always very happy.

We LOVE this place and go at least once every time we're in the Colchagua Valley. Regrettably, Rayuela is now only open from 12:00 to 17:00 rather than in the magical evening as it was when we first went, but the food is still just as wonderful.

Dining is inside or outside, with a view of the equestrian training grounds and the vineyards. The Viu Manent wines are world class, the food is great and the setting is entirely pleasant. Take a late lunch or early supper and relax here. The full menu also includes nice salads, typical Chilean parilla (wonderful smoky barbecued meats), and fantastic deserts.

After your meal, you're free to take a stroll in the well tended vineyards of this great winery. You can also tour the winery, on a horse drawn wagon, with stops along the way, including tastings at various stages in the process of making wine.  A great learning experience! And for a really fun experience for the horse lover(s) in your party, book ahead with Rodrigo at the stables (ask your innkeeper) and take a leisurely 1-2 hour ride through the vineyard on some of the best horses you will ever find!

BTW, if you're earlier or later than the restaurant hours but hungry anyway, there's also a cafe next door with limited menu.

We especially like the fact that the Viu Manent wines in the restaurant are priced BELOW what you can buy them for, even in local stores. Enjoy a bottle of Grand Reserve or Secreto for a pittance. You're in for a treat! Every winery should treat their customers and potential customers so well!

Sitting outside on the terrace at Viu Manent for a mid afternoon lunch is a special experience. The food and wine are cheap and the dishes are grilled and come with ample sides that you can share. Have been here three times and each time the food was of varying quality. But definitely a nice experience each time.
