Organised a trip around central Chile ourselves staying at many locations. However our two favourite places stayed at were both in the Colchaggua Valley including Casa de Campo. The Hotel wa easy to book by E Mail and easy to find with an excellent location just outside Santa Cruz..
This is a family owned and run Hotel and upon our arrival we were immediately made very welcome at Reception and particularly by the owner, Aramando. During our stay we were made to feel like the most important guests of the year by Aramando and family and co without them being at all intrusive. They do not speak a great deal of English, but this was not a problem at all.
The Breakfast and evening meals were both excellent.
The Rooms are large and clean with a comfortable bed and a nice well fitted bathroom. There is a large balcony with views across the countryside and to the Andies in the distance.
This part of Chile has a superb climate and the swimming pool was also very good. If you are visiting this part of Chile you cannot fail to enjoy a stay here. Shame was we were only here for two nights.

Stayed for two nights in Jan '10. This was our favorite hotel in Chile. The staff is fantastic (make sure you spend some time with Virginia, she is wonderful!) The rooms are very large and comfortable with a fantastic view of the valley. Breakfast was yummie and the location was perfect for visiting the nearby bodegas and/or Santa Cruz. If you like wine, Casa de Campo is only 10 minutes away from several wineries including Lapostolle and Montes (two of the best and most beautiful in all of Chile - imho) I would gladly stay here again and recommend it HIGHLY to anyone. The only negative was that they don't take credit cards. This was not a big deal as there are ATM's in nearby Santa Cruz and they will also take US $.

This is an excellent little hotel on the outskirts of Santa Cruz.

The hotel is run by a family who are incredibly hospitable. We stayed for the last 2 nights of 2009 (including New Year's Eve). On the first night we requested a taxi to take us to the atmospheric Pan Pan Vinovino restaurant, but there wasn't one to be found. The owner volunteered to drive us down the road. Not typical service!

The facilities were nice with comfortable clean rooms, excellent breakfast and set in nice gardens. The only 2 negatives for us were the proximity to the main road (although the traffic didn't end up disturbing us) and the location being on the edge of the town. So it is probably not a good place to stay without a car.

The reviews on this site prompted us to book 2 nites at Casa de Campo in Santa Cruz. We were nervous because none of the 4 travel books we consulted mentioned it ~ but now we know why... this place is only 1 year old!!! Honestly, it has the atmosphere as if you are staying in a 100 year old house. The decor is an amazing combo of old world and local art, It also had all updates and necessaties of a modern hotel!

Here's what we loved most about this place:
1) the rooms are HUGE and the bathrooms are very modern. they overlook a vineyard/fruit farm and lovely hillside. Our room even had a loft with a single bed ~perfect for a child traveling with you.

2) breakfast! FRESH fruit (the blueberries were picked that morning in the adjacent farm!), fresh cheese, meat and pastries. The staff was amazingly attentive and friendly. I could have spent all day sitting in the dining room just enjoying the view and interior decor.

3) owners. this is a family owned and run location and you can tell. They actually care about you and your stay. they helped us with wine tour reservations, shopping recommendations and dinner reservations (Pan Pan Vino Vino was the restaurant they told us about and it was nothing short of fabulous!). All the people working here are exceptionally friendly and helpful. They will go out of their way to give you time for whatever advice you need!

We loved this place so much, we almost changed our travel itenary to be able to stay another day.

**Only 1 thing to note ~ at the time of our stay, the were not able to accept credit cards (possibly because they are only 1 year old). so, just plan ahead and bring cash :)

Believe all of the other reviews. This place is amazing! The staff and the owners couldn't be more warm and friendly. The owners spent 30 minutes at our check out drawing us a map showing us how to get to Valparaiso-- and they were right on! Great restaurant recommendations by them: Bistro Veta, PanPan VinoVino, a Peruvian place with Barreales in the name. We did not have a bad meal in town. Anyway, the rooms are gorgeous, the views beautiful, and the atmosphere perfectly serene. Even the breakfast room is perfect. At every nook you just want to sit and have a glass of wine. Location is outside of town-- we had a car. Not sure how it would be without a car. I normally like to be in town, but I was happy to be outside of town. I didn't feel like I was missing out at all by being outside of town. If you're looking for an oasis, stay here. A few things to note... the dogs were not a problem at all, and at night you hear a slight hum from cars driving by-- not a problem for us though. Wireless internet if you want to connect.
