We ended up at this hotel as our reservation at another hotel was misplaced. This was a great find. There's not much going on in the city of Santa Cruz, and you may want to consider stopping at other towns. This is truly a family run B&B and everyone was kind and welcoming. The hotel is beautiful, with many antiques. The rooms and bathrooms are quite large. Breakfast was delicious, but it needs to be streamlined a bit. My only complaint: the beds were a little too soft for my liking.

I have to agree with nicolawca's review. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this place, but it is not a hotel. It's a B&B, so one feels a little misled. That being said, the place is cozy & the rooms are comfortable. The manager is very nice & helpful. The bathrooms are not especially welcoming. I was put off a little by the industrial/commercial hand soap & shampoo dispensers. The breakfast was bountiful at a shared dining room table. It's not that this place does anything wrong, but the environment is a little jarring from the tranquil countryside of the wineries.

The town of Santa Cruz is not pretty by any stretch of the imagination. Perhaps I had visions of Healdsburg, CA; boy was I mistaken. It's a gritty, industrial town catering to the workers. Primary businesses along the main drag are auto repair shops/garages. However, we did have a great empanada (freshly made for us) at one of the local empanada shops. We thought that it would be more convenient to be able to walk to dinner and not worry about drinking & driving. However, we ended driving anyway. If I were to do it over again, I would stay out in the countryside & enjoy the beauty of the area.

I'm torn writing this review. On the one hand, the owners are super nice and attentive, and really strive to make sure you have a comfortable stay. However, this is not really a hotel. Its seven separate rooms around a communal lobby over two floors. They call it a boutique hotel. To me, it was more like a bed and breakfast.

Its located on the way into town, off the main road in a dodgy area. I was concerned at first, but entire hotel is locked at all times. In fact, you have to ring the doorbell to get in at all times of the day.

No AC or heat in rooms, but they have a wood fireplace in bottom lobby that keeps the place comfy. Everything is super clean, but dated, including the linens and furnishings.

Breakfast is served communal style around large dinning room table downstairs.

Staff tries to speak English, but I felt more comfortable communicating in my broken Spanish.

We did notice that staff continuously steered us to wineries and restaurants with which they have "accuerdos." Maybe it's just the way things are in Santa Cruz.

The stay was not bad, but we'll probably stay elsewhere when we return.

Fantastic hotel with a warm, personal family feel. Beautiful decor with lots of character, huge rooms, yummy breakfast and complete "honesty bar". We got engaged here and if I could do it again I wouldn't change where we stayed. Hopefully we will return before leaving Chile!

Room Tip: All rooms are personalised - more of a B&B feel than hotel feel. Any room would suffice.

Lovely and cozy bed and breakfast style boutique hotel with friendly owners and staff who clearly care about their guests. The traditional décor with antique furnishings is beautiful and the ambience itself is nearly a museum of Chilean handicraft and antiques.

The lounge/lobby area is beautiful, although not as cozy as one would hope due to the antiquated and upright stiff couches. Still, it provides a nice area for guests to gather.

The bedrooms are spacious enough, and are outfitted with a comfy bed and several types of pillows, desk, flat screen TV with cable, wine bar, free internet, hooded bath robe, hair dryer, and a full length antique bath tub with full body shower sprays. Note that restroom amenities are not provided other than soap and shampoo. The closets are perhaps lacking a bit in shelving for clothes, due to the antique. The rooms can be completely blacked-out for an uninterrupted sleep-in, an important feature for me ☺

The breakfast is decent, although certainly not amazing. Guests are seated together at a single large dining room table, providing a social atmosphere if you want it, albeit probably intrusive for the introverts. Freshly cut fruit, fresh fruit juice, warm breads and jams, ham, cheese, yogurt and cereals, cake, coffee and tea are all on offer.

The residence’s “Honest Bar” is a fun concept that allows guests to help themselves at the extensive bar, keeping their own bar tab in a book, and tabulated to the hotel bill upon checkout. The Bar also keeps a full bowl of fresh fruit available.

The back yard of the house has a small pool and jacuzzi, and is full of lounge chairs perfect for reading or evening cocktails.

Easy 4 block walking distance to the central plaza, casino and the Hotel Santa Cruz for a nice meal. I have stayed in the Hotel Santa Cruz and I much prefer this style of small, cozy and friendly B&B.

I can't wait to go back!
