As (partly) repeaters we stayed 3 nights during the high season (January 2014). Location, rooms, transportation services are of top quality. The excursions were again a memorable experience - thanks to seasoned, knowledgable guides and safe drivers. The members of the hotel/restaurant staff were predominantly (very) young, very friendly - but were also, I am a afraid to say, sometimes "unguided missiles". The lack of a senior manager at the Front Desk and in the Restaurant (worth its title) was in sharp contrast to our 1st stay only a few months before. In the absence of clear guidance and structure the services were often uncoordinated, late and not very thoughtful - despite all the friendliness of these young waiters, receptionists etc.

We stayed here for three nights. It is relaxing, beautiful and friendly. The rooms boast an indoor and outdoor shower, we had a volcano view and underfloor heating. It has everything you want. There is sunscreen at reception, water coolers for refills and the aromatic smell of the burning log firepits was immense. The spa is a bit worn and i had a bit of a naff massage from a lady who couldn't massage and chat at the same time.....and boy could she talk! The food at $60 a head was a tad steep but the food was good and our wine was topped up. Our trips were separate but there was a lot of things to do through the hotel. The early morning coffee and muffins were most welcome for our geysers trip. Would go back in a heart beat.

Atacama is a beautiful, and Tierra Atacama makes the trip to this paradise even better. The hotel is as good as expected and the tours (included) are great! All tour guides were extremely well trained which helps a lot. The rooms have a perfect size, and are well decorated. It isn't a cheap hotel, but they offer so many services.... in the end you see the value for your money.

My husband and I have just return from a trip to the Atacama region. We stayed at Tierra Atacama and we had a great time. Our room had a large window facing the Licancabur Volcano and the view from our bed was astonishingly beautiful. An important thing about Tierra Atacama is that all people in its staff are very kind and do their best to accommodate the guests' requests. Also, the tour guides are nice and very knowledgeable on the geological, biological and political aspects of the region. Rooms are clean and spacious, toiletries are from L'Occitane, and towels are changed in the morning and afternoon. Air conditioned worked perfectly as well as the heating during the night. There is no TV in the rooms but Internet wifi is free and works perfectly. Mineral water is provided at no charge and every guest is given an aluminum bottle to carry water during the tours. Moreover, the guides always carry cool water and sodas in the cars used for the tours because the days are hot and extremely dry which makes it necessary to drink a lot of water all the time. Water consumption also makes one feels less intensely the effects of high altitude. Max organizes the guests schedules according to their requests and also takes into consideration one's fitness upon making suggestions about things to do and places to go. We were very pleased with our tour plan; the highlights were Baños de Puritama and Geisers del Tatio. The trip to Salar de Tara was also very beautiful although tiresome (Tara is far from San Pedro de Atacama, about an hour and a half by car, and as it was the first time that we were at a very high altitude, more than 4500m I believe, we were bothered by headache and nausea and could not fully enjoy the fine picnic arranged by the hotel guides). We also watched the flamingos at Salar de Atacama. A snack was provided at sunset. It would have been a nice touch if they had organized a toast with sparkling wine (A very good Chilean sparkling wine is served during dinner and lunch time). In order to be able to appreciate the tours do not forget to read the hotel recommendations about how to get dressed for them on its webpage, specially because temperatures can be very low, even negative, during some excursions. The Spa is nice; though it would be nicer if it were warmer because in the afternoon when one gets out of the heated pool the place feels uncomfortably cold. The hotel should consider heating all the place and not only the water of the pool. The outside pool is beautiful but the water is too cold for swimming. There is a jacuzzi for relaxation though. Julian, the bartender, prepares a great Pisco Sauer. Try it! The wine selection is good but food quality during lunch and dinner is irregular and goes from just fair to very good. Breakfast is fine but boring. It would be desirable to vary a few items from day to day. All in all, Tierra Atacama is a great place to stay and we would definitely recommend it. P.S. Don't miss the sky observation tour and book it as soon as you arrive at the hotel. The 9 o'clock tour is best because it is held before the moon rises when the sky is darker and it is easier to see the stars.

We were staying at sant Pedro between a trip across Bolivia , and carrying on to Argentina. Our dilemma was where to stay in Sant Pedro. Tierra Atacama looks, indeed is, expensive, but they do offer you amazing value for money.

The rooms are modern and comfortable. Ours looked towards the volcano, and had a sitting area outside. The bathroom has both an outside and an inside shower. I could not fault the bedroom

If you take, as we did, the all inclusive package, then meals, all drinks, and all excursions, are included. The food was good (the fact that choice was limited did not bother me), the house wines of an acceptable standard, and cocktails like Pisco Sour were first class. The service in the dining room was excellent, and the staff were well trained.

The range of excursions is enormous, I never counted them, but there must be around fifty different ones. You sit down with the organiser soon after you arrive, and agree a program of excursions. They will put on anything on the list. We fitted in six trips in the three days we were there

They only little contretemps we had was that we had booked an all day excursion as one of the options, and they omitted to tell us that the other five in the mini bus would be five business people from a group of ten staying in the hotel. I felt that the mix in the bus would be wrong, and that my wife and I would be like a couple of gooseberries.

So I said we would skip the trip, and the hotel, after a bit of indecision, put on another trip for us. So they did sort the problem. As I said to the hotel, I did not expect a private trip, but I did expect to be told if there was an " odd" mix of fellow travellers

Other reviewers have noted the cold pool - my wife managed a couple of swims, but I abstained. There is a smaller indoor pool which is warmer.

I walked into town. It is a long, and a bit dusty , hike of a couple of kms. To be truthful, there is not a lot to see in the town, but it is worth going in to see it anyway! I thought the walk quite pleasant

In all three really nice days. We were booked three days, and I wish, retrospectively that we had booked four or even five nights

Modern and cozy hotel, our room faced the sunrise, and the ridge - beautiful ! located 15' walk to village main street. Helpful staff, great food, knowledgeable guides, good variety of excursions: hiking, 4 wheels, bicycles, horseback - all well organized.
although we were just me and my husband, there were guests with children (8+ yrs old) and they had a fun time.
Stayed for 5 days and had a wonderful time !

The location and design of this hotel are spectacular! The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious. From what we saw, I'd say most rooms have a great view. The food at the hotel was delicious - presentation and taste are top notch and the chef knows what they are doing that's for sure! We did wish they had a few more snacks available as we had lunch at 1:00 and dinner wasn't available until 8pm. Guacamole, fruit, veggies - something other than nuts.

The guides were really good - friendly, knowledgeable and passionate, especially Paula. We did all of the walking tours as weren't intersted in long car rides and every excursion brought us something new and different! There is so much to see.

Although there aren't a lot of meal options, there is something for everyone on the menus. They do need to have more vegetables with their meals. Portion sizes are perfect and not too big.

One big downside is the wine available - the hotel owners also own a vineyard so that is the only wine availale in the all inclusive option. I was VERY disappointed as I wanted to try quite a few Chilean wines on my holiday and this just wasn't an option. On the plus side, the bartenders are good, they make some great cocktails and are happy to make you their favorites so that you can try a variety.

We loved this hotel and had a great stay! Tierrra Patagonia could learn a thing or two from their Atacama sister hotel!!
