I came for the first time in march 2009 and I was very happy. I went for the second time mid september this year and I was, another time, very happy. I can note a lot of progress. Virginia is a very good manager and everything is working very well with her. Juan Pablo is a TOP CHEF, the food is really good with a lot of creativity, very good creativity. Andreas was a very good guide. Erwin a very good chofer. In fact, if you want to visit the wonderful sites around San Pedro, with the exclusive pleasure to be ALONE with the Nature, then, go for "Awasi", they really take care of you and do all they can for you to have holidays "à la carte" and to appreciate this wonderful Nature. Each room has is own guide and own chofer and you build your OWN program with them and they always show you the must see in exceptional conditions. Then.... you know what you have to do....

Dear Guest:

Thank you very much for taking your time to share your feedback.

We are very happy and proud about your second visit to our lodge in the "majestic Atacama Desert".
We are constantly striving to improve our service standards and are glad that you have noticed such changes throughout the years.

Currently, we are working on a new project at the Torres del Paine in the Chilean Patagonia and cannot wait to welcome you there soon!

Thanks again for choosing Awasi and hope we can also “wow” you on another paradise of Chile.

Warmest Regards,

Matias de Cristóbal

It's been a few years but I would be remiss if I didn't stop and simply say: this is truly one of those must-do-in-your-lifetime kind of places. It's special. We became friends with the owner and some of the staff and still remain in touch - - when does that EVER happen? It's a magic mix of all too rare service, location, food, sights, sounds and smells.

Be brave. Be inspired. LIve your life.
Go.

I want to congratulate the person that came up with the concept of Awasi. There is nothing to fault and they really know how to make a visit to San Pedro Atacama a once in a lifetime experience. You are made to feel like the most important VIPs from little things like meeting you after a tour and offering to take drinks to the room while you relax. After dinner, you get up to leave for your room....would you like us to bring over a bottle of wine and a cheese platter to your room...OK! I didn´t hear the words - no we can´t do that - in the entire time we stayed. So refreshing.
I like how the guide sits down with you and works out the itinerary as the list of things to see in Atacalma is overwhelming and you can´t see everything in 3 or 4 days. The guide listens to what you want and caters the trips to suit age, fitness level etc. We were traveling with a 6 & 4 yr old & our guide Andreas was very good with our kids. One of our proudest family moments to date is our children completing the 8k moon valley trek and he made it happen - it will be a memory we will have forever.
Everytime we passed a tour bus packed with people that were on a strict timetable I was so thankful for our dedicated car and driver.... even the other luxury hotels seemed to travel in large groups.
I think the key with Awasi is that they consistantly exceed expectations in all areas so you are never stressed or disappointed. You leave feeling relaxed and happy. The food, service, rooms....it´s all been said in previous posts.
We enjoyed it so much that we plan to visit Awasi Patagonia when it opens at the end of next year.
Thanks Awasi.

Dear Guest,

We really appreciate the congratulations and also thank you for recognizing our particular emphasis in providing a personalized service. We enjoy reading such comments because it re-enforces our philosophy and the focus behind it.

The tour guide pairings are very important, given that the guests will be spending quite some time on the outings with this person. It is imperative that there is a good match, and we are happy that our guide Andreas was a good fit with you and your family.

It gives us a great sense of accomplishment and the importance of having shared with our guests a very special moment in their lives.
We love to think that when your kids grow up they will most probable remember this special family trip to the Atacama Desert (including the "llama walk")

It makes it all worthwhile when we receive such a good feed-back from our guests.

It would be our pleasure to welcome you and your family again in Atacama or in one of our future projects in Patagonia or Iguazú Falls.

Best Regards,

Matías de Cristóbal

The Atacama and surroundings are some of the most beautiful places in the world. The landscapes are breathtaking, the wildlife is spectacular and the access is extremely easy. Biking or walking through the desert is very cool but the area is too big for biking only. That is the first point Awasi makes a huge difference. Guests have a private 4x4 truck (each room has one) with a professional and very experienced guide and a driver that takes us anywhere during our stay. We can bike at the Bolivia frontier if we want – they carry our bikes in the truck leave us at the most beautiful landscape and when we get tired an amazing table in the middle of the desert is prepared for our exclusive lunch with a view. I prefer to avoid the crowds and we talked about it to our guide. Unbelievably when we arrived the geysers, one of the most visited parks of the region, buses and cars were leaving the spot and as we parked we were almost the only visitors in the par and the geysers were working at their best. It is very hard to calculate the time so perfectly. The difference is that other hotels (except Explora) have tours in a non-private van and you can only decide where to go but not where to stop or when to leave or to arrive. And I believe travel through Atacama in a 4x4 Mitsubishi truck is much better than in a full of passengers van.
Talking about the hotel itself the best thing is the friendliness of the staff - that is exaggerated. It is like we are at home. From the cheerful manager to the maintenance guys everyone welcome us in a very memorable way. The room is also magnificent: few suites made of stone, adobe and wood, with rustic charming furniture, a large bathroom with delicious soaps, shampoos and bath salt, large towels and nice slippers. The bed and linens are perfectly comfortable. Combined with the silence of the city the sleep quality is guaranteed.
The check-in is not usual. As we arrive the hotel in the private car from the airport the manager and some staff members are by the door waiting for the welcoming. We are taking to our room and after a while we met our private guide to plan the next days. Don't miss the Astronomical Tour.
The breakfast buffet is not very extensive but the quality of the food is perfect. And they prepare sandwiches and eggs our way. I cannot forget the Jamón Serrano with Swiss cheese hot sandwich I had with an unbelievable homemade lemonade.
The dinner is elegant, with a fireplace on the corner and low light ambiance. The homemade breads are served warm and the wines from around the world have a good quality and are served at the perfect temperature. The food is superb and even if we are tired from the day tours it is worth to have a calm dinner at night. Don't forget to stop by the garden to see the stars. That is the most incredible sky you will ever see. The fog in the middle is the Milk Way!
The price is high but considering the quality of the services and the installations the only question is Can I afford it? If you can pay, don’t think twice.

Room Tip: Superior Round Suites are the best but any room will be amazing.

Dear Guests:

Thank you very much for your very detailed feedback.

We are always happy to see when our guests have left our oasis in the desert as excited as you to share your great experience with others.

As you pointed out on your review, Atacama and its surrounding sites are one of the most beautiful places in the World. We personally find it that experiencing such sights in a much more personalized manner, truly enhances the overall knowledge that one attains from this trip.

This is the main reason as to why Awasi has been built on such a concept: Providing all of our guests, personalized, tailor-made experiences through lodging, gastronomy and outings.

We are all very thankful for the great remarks and hope to be able to welcome you and yours once again, in our future project on the Chilean Patagonia.

There are no words to describe how very special Awasi is....we've traveled to many top hotels and resorts, but Awasi was very unique in that we felt more like houseguests in a lovely home, instead of guests in a hotel. We rarely saw other guests.....the food was delicious and creatively put together using fresh ingredients and indigenous grains, vegetables, and spices; my husband is a "foodie," and he was "wowed", so that says a lot! Having our own fabulous guide, Mabel, and capable, knowledgable driver, Edwin, was invaluable....every moment was devoted to helping us have the most unique, tailored-to-us excursions. Can't give enough praise!!!!

Room Tip: Loved our huge, round, "tiki hut", made with local materials and a work of art roof/ceiling! Also had a private outdoor shower and star gazing lounge

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for taking time to sharing your wonderful experience at Awasi!

For Awasi to be compared to “Heaven” is truly an honor that has filled us with joy.

We attempt to provide the highest of service standards to all of our guests, by enticing everyone with the finest local dishes with an international twist. As well as having the most comfort while out on an exciting Atacamenian adventure, and then returning to relax at our oasis.

Certainly, to receive such high praises of a “foodie” like your husband, is one of our goals that we try to obtain at all times. Our Executive Chef, works diligently in finding new ways of including all of the fresh products that are available locally. Seeing how he was taken aback by the creative presentations and mixes, has made us very happy.

All of our staff members send you their best, especially Mabel and Edwin that are a bit blushed to see you mention them.

Once more, thank you for your comments and we hope to be able to “wow” you both again at our future project on the Chilean Patagonia, coming soon!

Best Regards,

Ivan Costa
