We started the day at 8am driving out to a small oasis town and taking a hike to observe the birds that live along the watershed. After a tasty breakfast we headed to the salt flats and lakes full of flamingos and waders.
In the afternoon we headed for higher altitudes, including the altiplano wetlands where giant and horned coots live.
In total we found 38 different species of birds, as well as guanacos and vizcachas.
Juan and Juan were excellent and knowledgable hosts. They know so much about the ecosystems of this beautiful region, and are fun people to spend a day with. Highly recommended!
